^^agreed. i laughed so hard at the 3 pedal presses and emergency brake i almost sh!t myself. good times. i don't know crap about cars. hence, i read that damn manual cover to cover when i bought my 4R and consult it several times a month. oddly enough, i usually find the answer to my question contained in it!

I am always a believer in RTFM. I also dislike all the lazy people who spend enough time to create a new account to become a member here and then won't use the search function. That said, I really, really dislike people who screw around and put bad or misleading information out for everyone to see all in the name of a joke. Do me a favor: Google some problem with a 5gen 4runner and see where it takes you. Yep, it brings you to this forum and usually to the appropriate thread. Yes, this is the internet so beware that what you read is not always true but c'mon, if we all answered questions with BS the questions will soon cease. That's just a sad way to treat someone with a legitimate question.

I'm glad the majority of you thought it was funny as that's what it was intended to be. We all know that the answers lie not only in the 5th gen forum but the 4th gen as well. And it's in the BEGINNING of the manual - hell, I think it's in the re**** quick start guide. For those of you that were offended - that's your problem.
Since nobody has given a "real" answer yet. OP - in the manual it states that there is an evaporation canister in the fuel tank that operates ~5 hours after being shutoff. It removes fumes from inside the gas tank. It doesn't operate all the time. It is completely normal.

Sure, if this was the 1st time it was asked or if it was not in the manual. Even the 1st handful of threads on this people were nice, but you reach a point when it is just hopeless and you have to have some fun. Besides, if you actually believe that original 'solution' well then you deserve to believe it! If someone asked how much oil does the 4R take and someone said +/- one quart because that info is available, sure that could be an issue, but a response like it does not take oil, it takes used cooking oil from your local fast food join would be appropriate, and again, it is is believed, well not much that can be done for that poor soul anyway.

"Manning up" is nothing to do with it. Manning up would have been to just answer the question. How is the internet any different than anywhere else? What if you called your dealer and that was the answer you got because they are sick of answering the same questions? I am all for good fun, but being a dbag in real life gets your ass kicked. Doing it on the internet gets "Like" clicked below your post....

You can do this automatically by clicking precisely on the share icon, then drag it over the like. Then you need to click on the start button on the bottom of your screen, click on all programs, then click on accessories, open calculator, type in 07734, and turn your monitor upside down!

For starters your dealer has to be nice to you or else you will not do business with him again, we are not taking money for you and do not have a financial relationship with you, so we get to tell you exactly how we feel, and if we make a joke at your expense, well lighten up and have fun with it. Oh, the dealers probably make a lot more fun of people.....you just don't hear it.
