Fuel tank overfill valve

Aloha all!

Long story short, I've been having problems while filling my fuel tank, as each $0.50 I put in would trigger the auto shut off at every gas pump I try to fill up at. Anywho, I've narrowed down the problem to my fuel tank overfill valve.

My question for you all is aside from a junkyard, where can I buy just the overfill valve to replace on my tank, or do they even sell it separately? I can find it for the Tacoma, so maybe I can use the Taco valve on my 4R? Any insight into this would be a huge help! I don't really want to drop a few hundred on a new tank...

This might be covered by emissions warranty even if your 4R is a 2011.

Actually I checked with the dealer, they already told me it wasn't, which is unfortunate. I asked if I could buy just the valve, they said they couldn't locate that part specifically so it's unlikely I could find it anywhere else. I was hoping someone on here could prove them wrong!

does it actually have a valve?

I don't think the tank has anything to do with your filling issue. you don't fill directly into the tank, there is a filler hose between the neck and tank. usually the neck has a vent hose, perhaps its clogged, or pinched.

I checked the filler neck, and all the vent lines, as well as the evap canister, they're all free from obstructions & whatnot. I've asked a few buddies and they think it's "most likely" the overfill valve

I don't think it has a valve either. My first impressions are that either someone put something in the tube or the gas cap was left off and debris is stuck in the anti siphon of the filler tube. I'd run a scope down that pipe before I started replacing parts.

In this diagram parts 17 and 12 are the breather tube and part 10 is labeled as a "filter" I believe it is the breather line filter since that needs vapor control per the EPA. The filter is only sold by Toyota as a piece of the filler assy. To get the whole filler assy online is about $220. Personally I'd swallow that pill before I took 2 weeks tinkering with "what ifs".

Y'all are probably right. I guess I'll spend this weekend double checking all the lines/tubes/breathers and hopefully I can find my problem in there! Thanks for the advice! Wish me luck lol
