now that was entertaining!!!! Great work 04Runner, I really dug the editing...Looks like there are some great trails just a couple hours from my house, thanks for giving me a taste. Lets all have more BEER!!

Actually Andries (Bulldog) made the video. He downloaded all our camera memory cards to his small portable laptop on the last day and then put it all together.

The white runner was mine and it has the Daystar spacer lift. Yes it made it thru with no problems. The only thing we were concerned about was rocker panel damage as I did not have sliders whereas everyone else did. With careful spotting by the the guys, I never felt concerned nor did I get any damage. I still run the stock Dunflops and on boulders they make things a little more challenging. (Its harder not to spin wheels when crawling)
I think a stock Runner could have gone where we went, just more care required with wheel placement which is what our spotters (James and Andries) are good at.
Our group is very conscious about avoiding damage although I think I held them back from the Holcomb Trail. They would have had fun I think - it would have been challenging based on what a few people told us - they had gone "in" for about an hour and turned around when it got too hard.

The bad part is we actually went home with leftover beer.
It was a fun trip for sure. Next time we defintely will have to try the hard trails. Mark as usual drove very well given his handycap. Stock highway tires really made the going tough for Mark and Henry as they seem to have had more of a problem with traction. So even after this trip where we crossed a lot of sharp rocky sections and DV they still didn'thave a flat, not bad for stock tires.
As Mark said a stock 4Runner would have made it with some scraping of the bumpers and skids. Running boards would not have made it on some sections.

Re: First Obstacle
Yup..diff locked on the main obstacles. On the first one (as I recall - I'll go back and look at the vid. in a moment) there was a boulder that had a flat 90 degree face and sort of a ditch below it. My truck was just stuck from moving forward. On the second attempt I had a little more forward momentum which I think allowed the tires to flex a little more to the shape of the boulder and climb over. I do think the problem in the main for Henry and I was that we were on stock dunflops and its easy to spin them on loose/slippery surfaces even with only gentle acceleration.

actually, i'm sporting the dueler h/ts, not the dunflops. irregardless, i can't believe our tires have survived both death valley AND big bear. the terrain in big bear was definitely rockier and my tires are finally showing it. i doubt they'll hold up to another outing or two like big bear.
that being said, next time there's an outing, don't let stock tires (or height) stop you from coming out with us. these 4runners are very capable in stock form and with great spotters and patience, you'll be able to do a heck of a whole lot.

I will be in SD in august and would love to make it to one of these outings. Im sure, even if i dont drive it, and just watch, I could learn a whole lot and become a much better and safer driver, both to myself, others, and my 4runner. Thanks for the video guys!!
