In the fuse block. Likely the one marked ACC its a 15a fuse. But I wont tell you which fuse block....

Do you have a stock or aftermarket stereo?
If you have an aftermarket head unit, I suggest running a fresh 10-12 gauge power wire and ground for the head unit. If you do that you should also install a 25-30W fuse within 12" of the car battery.

If you are still running stock then it probably shouldn't be cutting off. I haven't had stock since years ago but I am pretty sure it should not do that.
Sometimes audio amplifiers seem to cutoff when the volume is turned up. This is often referred to as "clipping" - there is no reason a stock stereo system should do this if "all is well"
There can be many causes for clipping, your best bet would be to google it.
Clipping often occurs when the stereo amplifier begins to heat up and its protective circuitry cuts off the amp temporarily. The user will then lower the volume and the amp works again.
Did you install aftermarket speakers with the stock stereo. A buddy of mine once installed 8 speakers in the car wired in parallel. He didn't realize this would drop the circuits resistance and cause the amp to heat up.
Steps I would take.
Run clean power and ground wire; 10-12G.
* Check your speaker wires for grounds.
* Check your speaker wires to make sure each speaker is at the proper OHM.
You will need a multi-meter.

I didn't give enough details the first time... Let me fully explain.....
I was majorly p*ssed at the gf so I went to my best friend's house to chill so I wouldn't waste my weekend by staying at home. While on the way, I felt the need for some AC/DC & Pink Floyd to calm me down. I turned it up.... LOUD and all was well. It wasn't cutting out or anything. Left it at that level for about 15 minutes. So I turned it down when pulling into his driveway, and all was well. Well later I leave and I notice that the Power/Sound knob was jiggling up and down. So..... I try to fix it by turning the knob. (My logic at that point was maybe it's stuck or the spring behind it is caught or something like that) Well I ended up turning the knob all the way around a couple of times.....:jaw drop: I know, DA move. Anyways, it won't turn on or play any radio stations, but it lights up when I turn my parking & driving lights on (the same way yours does when your radio is off and lights are on.)
I can put a cd in and eject it, and it makes a God awful noise when I have a cd in and I turn my lights on. Last night I stopped to pump gas for the gf (I was following her home) and I had a Lady Antebellum cd in. Well I get back in, turn headlights on and about had a freaking heart attack. It was so loud I couldn't understand the music. Basically static with music. So I ejected the cd and had no more issues with the loudness. It still does the static noise, but only when a cd is in and I turn my lights on. The "static" only happens when I turn on my lights and it lasts for like a .25/1 second and then it's over doesn't do it again until I turn my lights on (after them being off.). Any takers?
Should I just keep turning the sound button to the left until it (hopefully) works?
How much would a decent head me back.? No speakers yet, but I just want to have a nice system w/ no sub/subs. (Heck, anything is better than stock... lol)

Yep. Time for a new deck. I just scanned bestbuy.com and found a ton of decks under $150. You could check crutchfield too. Unless you're an audiophile who can detect the subtle nuances throughout the frequency spectrum...Just pick one you can afford and like the looks of. Sucks though, I know the feeling of realizing you broke something because you were pi^^ed off! Just make sure your GF makes it up to you. :boink:
Already did..... :naughty: Thanks! And I know the feeling all too well.... I have a project vehicle here at home and have gotten p*ssed a time or two (at it or because of it) and broke something.
So I've decided to rig my phone as my radio for about 2 weeks before I can get a radio and installation crap. Anyways, I'm looking at getting a Sony CDX-GT550UI... Looked online and in a couple of stores and aftermarket radios look cheap. lol Go figure. But a bunch of HU's *(Head Units) I looked at had a big a** gaudy looking volume knob. Back to topic, here's a pic and link....

The speakers worth the extra $20? Better/Worse than the front stockers? HU itself is 110 from Crutchfield. I'll most likely get it from them.
I'll eventually have an amp and sub so I'll have the radio wired for it so it'll basically be plug and play. I planned on keeping stock radio with no additions, but with what happened, I'm not going to half a** my radio/amp/speakers/sub. Do it right or not at all.
