Fusible Link??

Hello everyone,

I need some help identifying a part. I need to know what it is and what it does. I believe it is a fusible link. If it is, i would like to go purchase a new one, but because of the state it is in, i am not certain what to get. I have looked around but i have been unable to find much information.

I have a 1986 model with a 1991 engine. A picture of my engine fuse box can be seen below. The specific location is circled in red.

Many Thanks!

1991 22RE? 3.0?

Yes, that's the 80-amp fusible link module. 80-Amp MAIN FL is the Fusible link wire that is screwed into it. Looks like someone tried to remove module by brute force.

Rock Auto may have replacement module. If not, try junk yard or dealer.

IF wire is also gone, I strongly recommend replacing with same rating (80-amp), and not tap add-on circuits to it. Use separate fuse directly from battery for add-on circuits, so you do not affect stock charging and critical circuits (i.e., ignition, ECU supply, etc)

See more pics here

See Philbert's thread on Yotatech regareing findingreplacement for the wire part.
