Future purchase...struggling between TE or SR5

They are rare commodities in the Mile High City at this point.

I'm not trying to be superfluous or facetious when I say I talked to numerous dealers in February when I bought mine and they all told me the same thing: We will tell you when we have one coming in and highly recommend you put a deposit down if you really want one because they are generally spoken for before they hit the lot or the day after they are off the truck.

I bought mine right off the truck. Nobody test drove it. Nobody farted in it. She had a mere 4 miles on the ODO. :-)

When I looked two weeks ago, the dealer on the south side of Denver on Arapahoe had three silver TEs, but all had KDSS. As I was looking at the time and was interested in a non-KDSS version in red/white/dark grey, let them go. I need to wait another month or so anyways to let the spouse's job situation stabilize...waiting on a contract.

If I can't find one here, may have to expand search...looks like TX has them without KDSS.

Looks like Stevinson Toyota has one without kdss in white.
But seriously, just email all the dealers around the area with what you are looking for, make them run around and work for your business.

Definitely agree.

Cheeser - Talk to Gregg Haught (internet sales) at Arapahoe Toyota/Scion. He will find you what you are looking for and was great to deal with.

I didn't want KDSS on my new TEP either but the dealer said he couldn't find one w/out it. Got it with KDSS and it handles much better than the TE w/out does on the road.

The 5th gens have more headroom than previous generations IMO. My '06 Sport had the moon roof and so do the Trails I have now, there's probably an extra 2- 3" of room compared to 4th gen.

I haven't warmed up much to the softex seats either... maybe after they "break in" a little.

Overall the SR5 would fit the bill for me and most people looking for a T4R. Honestly, I choose Trails because they are aesthetically pleasing to me. I'll bet that hood scoop sells as many TE's as the locking rear diff does.
