Hey Gabe, did you have any problems with the rci skids lining up with the Shrockworks lower bumper filler? How is your front license plate mounted on there? Your truck is lookin bada$$.

from a distance it looks killer, up close, man... that's a different story... I'd definitely send pics to Shrockworks and hopefully they can come through and make it right, that definitely doesn't sit right

The filler fits between the radiator cross member and the radiator reinforcement brackets. The rci skids mount on the brackets so there's about a 3/8" gap. Doesn't look good but that's about as good as it's going to get. I have the KDSS skids btw.

I just drilled 4 holes for the license plates. Hope I don't get a ticket for it being too low

So this is the finished product for a while....

The rig is ready for the FJ Summit and Moab next week. I'll be sure to post photos as i go.

Wow Gabe...that is awesome work! Looks fantastic with superior capability...bravo!

Gabe- Make sure to catch uo with me at the FJ Summit. I can help you fix the issue with the headlights and bumper

We'll find out about the license plate as soon as pimpsta chimes in.

Just carry on until someone stops you. Be polite and courteous and tell the nice officer you tried your best to install your plate properly if you get the lights and sirens. Depending on the given circumstance, nothing will happen.

If you really want to test it out, go into LAX and see if you get pull over. Airports are really cracking down on plates.

Per CA's vehicle code 5201a:

Positioning of Plates
5201. (a) License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from swinging, shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly visible, and so that the characters are upright and display from left to right, and shall be maintained in a condition so as to be clearly legible.

There's letters of the law and then there's spirit of the law. Always be polite and don't act like a douche. The public may argue why are the police hassling tax payers about little things like plates and tinted windows. But the reality is those are the little things like these that gets real douches caught (someone with a warrant, DUI, stolen vehicles, etc).

Roger, might I ask what you have in mind? I don't see how they would get better unless you were bringing new ones with you...

The filler pieces really fit bad to be honest, I'm not happy with them. I haven't had a chance to send them photos yet but I can see them damaging the headlight over time.

Thanks for posting the closer pics, I can see what you mean about them damaging the lights over some time and trails. Hopefully Shrockworks can come up with a way to resolve this issue.

Then why do cops always write the tickets for plates and tinted windows and other BS instead of just issuing warnings? While it might be true that traffic stops for these little infractions do dig up some DUI's and stolen vehicles, most of the time they dont and every time the cop will still write the ticket. The bottom line is that its revenue driven and cops are just there to pull in more $

True story bro. Have you guys heard about this little nugget of joy?
Contact The CHP

Completely revenue driven. Claims are that the state is losing "MILLIONS" due to people not complying. Gotta pay to play in Californee though.

The CHP's main source of funds come from DMV registration. Money coming from citations goes back to the respective city.

I get most, if not all, of the public hate cops. But don't hesitate to call next time when there's an emergency because they will respond even if you view them as pigs and thieves.

Btw, I am not a cop.

Its the brackets. They are just loose. The fit is perfect, you just need to tighten the two brackets. Your rig looks sick btw! Are you going to Moab? I wil be in Moab on Sat morning. Thinking about taking the trails back to Ouray on Monday.

The brackets are tight, but you can take a look at it. I'm doing Moab after summit. I'll probably be there from Sunday evening 7/20 until Wednesday morning.

Brackets are loose!? I don't think so, Tim... I'd be pretty confident in saying Gabex35 is pretty well versed in modding and installing parts. just from looking at that picture, the inserts aren't cut to match the headlights, there's no way tightening the brackets is going to fix that. If I was a betting man, I'd put $ on it.

Rig looks fantastic Sir! Little disappointed that you say the front bumper finish is lacking. Hope they work that out, and would like to see closer pics if you have time. I'm a former fabricator myself and wonder if it's something I could take care of myself. Not that one should have to. Anyway, otherwise a beautiful rig to say the least.
