I don't want people stealing them so I figured a little less bling will help hide them.

I've also heard that any aux light above the headlights needs to be covered (California thing). In my head, It was cheap insurance to keep cops off my back.

Since if a cop wanted to give you a ticket at worst it's a fixit ticket. Never had an issue in California driving around and I had a few CHP officer drive up alongside me and wave because they liked the truck.

I'm not sure. I got it at Home Depot. It came in a kit with a bunch of hooks and loops.

Upgraded lift gate struts?

Gabe, I'm planning to mount my trasharoo to my gobi ladder since I don't have the budget for a swingout. Any feedback on your experience when you had your trasharoo mounted on the ladder? Did you get much movement when wheeling? I saw a photo where you had the rear hatch up with some load in the trasharoo. Did you upgrade your liftgate struts?

My plan is to put a couple of bundles of firewood in the trasharoo on the way to the campsite and pack out trash on the return leg.

To be honest, it's been a long time and I don't remember whether the struts could handle a full load in the Trasharoo. I was using the struts made for the extra weight of the ladder.

As far as movement Offroad, there was none and I think it's still a good option for those with no spare.

So I've been seriously considering having the rig go on a diet.

I'm thinking of ditching the CBI rear bumper with swing out. Selling the Gobi rack and ladder for an aluminum rack and ditching the VR10,000S.

If any of you are interested in any of these things, PM Me. With the CBI, I would need your stock rear bumper and the things that go with it (must be in mag grey).

I really need to post photos and updates on my rig, but a 1.5 year old keeps me super busy lol.

Same front rear bumpers and steal roof with light bar. I drove my brothers 2012 trail yesterday and man, it felt down right fast compared to what i have. I am taking the roof rack off, as i do a lot of 75mph highway driving, and it catches a lot of wind and am tired of the extra noise, but ultimately, weight is weight. Really interested to hear about your opinion of the re-gear.

Thanks man, the regear will probably done in the fall so it'll be a little later than I had planned. The truck does feel much better sans rack for daily driving.

I am running king coilovers with 650lb coils up front and OME 2898's in the rear.

So, saying that i haven't kept up with posting is quite the understatement...

Not a ton has been done to the rig in the last year so i haven't felt the need or had the time to update this thread. with that being said, here are some photos from about the last year of traveling and adventuring.

Checked out Death Valley in December with a group of Tundra forum members who decided their trucks were too bad ass to stick around for the rest of us so we explored everything the valley had to offer.





Almost picked up a M416 trailer but the owner wasn't going to be back around until the following week. If you ever find yourself in Beatty, NV. look for this guys property right off the main highway.

In February, Southern California got a last minute "heavy" rain/snow storm so i decided to head up to the local mountains for a solo exploring day.

I learned a couple of years ago that the best way to avoid all the Big Bear traffic during their peak season was to go the back way. It helps that it becomes dirt almost right away.




I ended up hanging around later than i had planned that day and had my very first remote snow camp. pretty epic for a SoCal city boy.


Oh yeah, and i sold my Gobi right before this trip.
