Gas door won't open when I pull the lever

No no no, here's how you fix the problem.

This just happened to me this morning. I knew there was a reason I put off throwing that old kleenex box away.

Just pull the black thing and go back to the cover and hit it with your fist. It will bounce open. No need for Kleenex. I did it for a month until I got a new clip.

so maybe not same thing...I had trouble too and found if I reached underneath the dash and grabbed the cable I could get the door to open. Weeks later I found that the cable kept jumping out of the plastic that holds it in place under dash...so zip tied it so it could not slip out of the holder ( cable to dash) and problem done. Looking at some of the pictures your pulling the lever more than needed...maybe you have same issue and not at the fuel door.

Bungy cord

Too bad that neat Fonzarelli slap on the gas door doesn't work for me because the lever has to be pulled in so you need two people since the latch pin locks the gascap door closed otherwise.

With two people I watch the latch pin move in and out all the way so the wire mechanism is working from the dash to the gascap door.

I don't see no spring though. Not anywhere. I don't even see where it is sposed to go.

I will post followup when I get a new spring from somwhere.

Just use a bungy cord to pull the lever while you bang on the door.

I found a rubber eraser on the ground by a gas pump, it's what I jam under the handle everytime I fill up. Too lazy to replace yet another clip.... :embarassed:

I got tired of having to fight the door to open it. When you start loosing a few minutes each fill up. Eventually, you may get tired of messing around and fix it. For me that wasnt even a month..
