Gas mileage 265 v 285 Ko2 C Load

I've perused the forums a bit but can really only find C/E comparisons and E is out of the question.

Has anyone had a KO2 265 C and upgraded to 285? Could you provide gas mileage, feel, acceleration etc when you made the switch?

I'm about to do a bunch of work, and I was pretty set on some 0 offset methods with 265 KO2, but I would prob grab the 285 if it didn't kill the mileage too badly. I know the jump from the factory P to the 285 would be a bit more, and I know the truck is extremely capable with 265, so I'm just looking for KO2 comparisons. I believe weight per tire is 265 == 46lbs and 285 ==51lbs

I have had both. When I put on the 285/70 I already had front and rear steel bumpers, full steel skids, and roof rack and moved from a 265/70 E rated MT tire. Going to the bigger c load kept me about the same MPG. I get 15.5-16mpg most of the time. As far as feel goes it is more sluggish than stock but also partly because of the extra weight from the armor.
Stock I had the 265/70 C load BFG and noticed no difference in MPG and got about 20.

Sure, definitely adds quite a bit of weight with the armor and bumpers! That's pretty solid mileage for all that extra though. You have to do a BMC to fit? What wheels are you running?

I don’t run KO2’s but your gas mileage and acceleration will definitely suffer from going to 265 to 285’s.

Seems extremely variable. I would say 18.5 since last fill up, but I do tend to drive within the ECO range. I drove two hours round trip to Maryland yesterday and trip MPG was 21.6mpg on country roads avg speed 45mph.

No BMC on mine and running Method Grid wheels in 17x8.5

I've run the following:
Stock weight
265 LT - C rated tires (BFG KO2)

Plus steel bumper
285 P tires (Cooper AT3)
275 LT - E rated tires (KO2)

285 although it was a Passenger version (not the heavier LT version) was the most sluggish of all. Even holding 5th gear at higher speeds was sometimes difficult on windy days, even though my truck has a few 'performance' mods such as CAI/ y-pipe + exhaust/ URD MAF tune...etc.

Two flats later, I am now back on 275 LT tires, which is beefier yet truck runs better overall

I drive relatively aggressively so fuel mileage is almost equally crap on all cases.

Did you have any problems with the 265 C?
I'm considering getting the 265, but I see that the load index is lower than the stock (112 vs 113) and wondered if this could be a problem.

Tons of people have them wihout issue. Myself included. I tow a trailer too.
