Gauge cluster change

All of the reading I've done on the forum, and year to year changes (unless I missed it) I can not find why and when the following change happened to the gauge cluster. Just curious as to why this happened and when? It would seem that the button layout is more modern feeling, but my 07 has the single stick button that pokes out from the gauge cluster. Below are images for reference.

Please help me sleep at night.

The design of the meter cluster has been changed.

the 03-05 got a lot of complaints for being hard to read in the daytime and had a TSB about it. I think it was glare from the crappy lens and the TSB just had the cluster lights always on now. the 06-up has a better design with added seat button and signals built into the cluster.

That's funny. Mine is different from both of those. I have an 08 sr5. I'll have to take a photo

those are both limited models and the sr5/sport got a different cluster.

I will be able to sleep better now.

I'm not a fan of the dial button reset, as it's open and over time crap and gunk get into the cluster. Too bad they didn't keep the button layout and improve the issues mentioned.

Why were black letters used in this 07 SR5 display? IMO they are harder to see. I feel a clear lens would help this issue or white background letters. Have any had a problem with seeing with ease from a glance and found a solution.

If it bothers you, you can disassemble the cluster and apply a "reverse polarity" lens to flip it so it's white letters on black/blue background.

jow, you can change the bulbs out to white led, it makes it a little easier to see.
