Gauge cluster compatibility

The gauge cluster in my 2005 Limited 2WD 4.0L crapped out today. The original gauge clusters part # is 83800-35D70. I ordered an 83800-35C40 (which is from a 2005 Limited 4.7L) I bought this because it was the closest i could find, but now im wondering if everthing will work...

Does anybody know if these two clusters are compatible?

I would assume it will work no problem at all...but, you'll find out for sure soon, right?!

the rpm range on the 4.0 and the 4.7 is different
also the 4.7 is always on 4hi, so you may not have the 2wd lights in the cluster.

What about the odometer? I thought the cluster had gone out in my daughter's Hyundai, and contact the dealer and was told the new cluster had to be shipped to California, to be re-calibrated. I told them no thanks. Ordered one online thinking the odometer settings were in the computer. No dice. The new cluster kept the odometer readings that were on it. This seems like an easy way to perpetrate fraud if you ask me.

Main functions will work, but as others have said, RPMs will (may) be off, other options like air suspension, etc may light up and you might get engine codes. Mileage is definately stored in the cluster so watch for that. State inspection might catch that if the mileage discrpency is great. In summary: return it and get a V6 (early 2003-2004) cluster. 2005 and up have "smart airbags" and you might get an airbag light.

Keep looking on fleabay, one very close (or same) to what your rig has will pop up.

Well the replacement cluster came in today, and just switched them out. So far everything is good. No lights (4x4, airbag, etc..) all gauges work. Only drove it to the end of my driveway and back. I will report back if any lights or codes do appear. The RPMs are only like 200rpm off. The 4.0 redlines at 5500, the 4.7 is at `5700.
