Gauge Cluster Issues

I finally pulled the trigger on getting this fixed. My local third-party shop was able to find a used cluster for $70 and installed it for a little over $100. I know it would have been an easy swap to do myself, but I was hoping they would find something else as opposed to just replacing the part. The new-to-me cluster reads about 122k miles on the odometer, so I'll have to keep track of the mileage difference, but other than that I'm happy with it.

You can take it to a shop that specializes in odometers/instrument clusters and they can set it to the correct mileage, your local Toyota dealer maybe able to do it as well.

Here's one such business, look under the repair section/link, maybe you can find a similar business in your area.

Reviving an old thread here. My 05 limited V8 is having issues with the gauge cluster similar to the ones listed here. It started with my gas gauge sitting at 0 when there was gas (i did the recalibration). Then one by one my other gauges started acting up. The RPM and speedo needles would flicker (shake) on start of the engine and after 7 or 8 seconds they return to their normal positions and act normally.

Now my Temp gauge and Gas gauge both sit at 0 and while the others work normally after the flickering on startup.

If I remove the cluster and reinstall it, it will work normally for anywhere from a few hours to a few days, then it falls back into its malfunction.

Ideally, I'd like to keep my cluster and ODO original, but I have no idea where to start troubleshooting.

Has anyone figured out a solution to this issue?

Sorry to revive an old thread.

I have a 2005 V8 Limited that just started having gauge issues around 186k Speedometer wasn’t working for a bit but then came back. Now it will intermittently get stuck at 5mph even when I’m at a complete stop. Simple enough to remember and adjust driving accordingly.

Recently though the RPM starts to randomly read almost 0 while stopped at red lights. It picks up when I start driving again but will keep doing it until i finally shut the engine off and turn it back on a few times. Is there any way to repair it or is a complete removal and replacement the best way to go?
