Time to change my transfer case and differential fluids. I have a 2010 4R, SR5, 4x4. It doesn't say on my original window sticker if I have "limited slip" differentials, so I gave my VIN to the parts guy @ my local dealer, and he doesn't know if I have the "limited slip" option. How do I know if I have differentials with limited slip or not ?
The price difference for the Toyota "OEM" 75W-85 GL-5 differential fluids are :
$78.30 per quart for the limited slip part # 08885-02606
$36.79 per quart for the non limited slip part # 08885-02506
Are most of you all putting in the "genuine" Toyota oil, or an aftermarket brand ? By the way, I did buy the Toyota Transfer case oil part # 08885-81080 which was $88 for a 1 liter can.
Also, do I need any special tools to do this service myself ?
