Gen 2 rear door newb question

hi all. just picked up a 94 runner last night and have a quick question regarding the rear door. i can't seem to open it without opening the window from the drivers seat and then reaching in and opening the door from the inside handle. there's no exterior handle and the key only seems to close the rear window. am i just being a bonehead or is there some special secret to getting it open from the outside?

No, rear window operating problems are common, either from the inside or outside. The rear window control module relays go bad.

I recently opened up the rear panel, and cleaned it all out (rust chips blocking water drainage holes), and lubed everything up.

Man it goes so fast now!

tailgate window

The tailgate can only be opened when the window is all the way down and the handle is on the inside.

The key should work for rolling the window up or down. Mine doesn't do either so I have to roll the window down from up front all the time.

thanks for the usefull info guys. i guess i'll have to open up the lift gate and see if it can use some cleaning before getting a new relay.
