Hey guys, anyone know where the 3rd gen (non-limited) pulls in outside air from? Also when on recirculate where does it pull inside air from?

Thinking about maybe trying to add some filter media to make a cabin air filter, anybody tried this?

Cheers!

Also congrats to briansd for finally getting your search thread stickied, i know its been a long time coming!

I always thought it was from the vents under the wiper blades...

I think you are right, thank you sir. Now i know where to spray the lysol. Still curious as to the location of the interior air return. I think that would be a good spot for an air freshener and perhaps some filter media???

Also curious, when pulling outside air, is it 100% fresh air or a mix of fresh/recirculated air. Anyone?

Semi correct.

the new fresh air is 100% new air. taken from under the cowl panel on the passenger side by the wiper blade / mirror/ glass.

the recirculate air is also 100% recycled taken from under the passenger side feet area (not exactly sure where, never looked real hard) or is could be around or behind the glove box.

I know a few guys who spray fabreeze in the air ducts or that put fabric softeners behind the air ducts that way it blows air on them and moves the scent around.

as far as a air filter i couldnt tell you. Ive never had to take apart a toyota HVAC system so not exactly where the door and vent ducts go but have a general idea.
