general maintenance at 75k

I bought my 4runner mid July with 68K miles, I now have 75K. Since owning the 4Runner; I have installed new tires (wheels also, FJ Crusier); changed my front brake pads.

I highly doubt that the original owner kept up the regular maintenance items, other than changing the engine oil. The tires where bald and the inside of the fronts are worn out.

I am looking within the next month or so taking care of everything that might be a possible item in question.

First of all this is my first automatic.
How often do you change the tranny fluid? Filter? What else should be changed out?

I also have the 4.7. How hard is it to change the timing belt? What else should be changed out at the same time?

same situation

I bought mine at the end of Aug 07 with an amazing 93K. It's a 03 with grey cladding and the 4.7 V8. The truck looked OK when I bought it, but as time went on I noticed lots of small things needed to be fixed. I got paranoid and got my timing belt and water pump changed at 97K. Got a trusted mechanic to do it for $500, the stealer wanted $750. This is an Interference motor, so don't go more than 110K or you will be pushing it. Along with that I got the serpentine belt changed too. Check your cabin air filter, mine had never been replaced (it was black with bugs and stuff). Also, check air filter obviously you probably have (again mine looked horrible) and wiper blades. Even that tiny one on the back windshield ($12) at the dealer. As for the transmission you have WS (started with 04 and up) with no dip stick, so don't worry about it. I am about to get that changed at the stealer for good measure (the manuel states check it, but never says when to change it. change at a scheduled interval if you pull trailers. I also went a head and changed out the iridium spark plugs (9-12 bucks per plug), but they can go to 120K before a change. I know this wasn't really a list to check off, but mine running strong now with 102K.

Denso K20R-U11 from the dealer. They didn't make to much of a difference, but a hint of fuel saved and smoother idle. I wouldn't worry with changing them until 100+K
