Genuine cry for help

I have an 02 SR5 sport, I am missing the two pigtails that run from the wiring harness and plug into the fuel tank, I have searched for days with no luck, Every single U-pullit and salvage yard around me doesnt have it, the dealer will only sell the complete wire harness for 1000+ dollars. If anyone has any ideas or knows of some other avenue I could take, your help would be greatly appreciated!

Please elaborate and someone might be able to better understand.


Ultimately, with what you are finding missing, what are you trying to do? Its hard to discern if your Rig is not running, and why the pigtails that run from the wiring harness and plug into the fuel tank where cut or not installed during the manufacturing process.

I baught the vehicle from an insurance auction and for whatever reason the fuel tank was missing- the moron who removed it clipped the pigtails (electrical plugs) instead of just pulling them out like your supposed to. they plug into the fuel pump assembly and the tank itself, sorry If I sounded confusing I just have nowhere else to look.

Alright, that helps. You have access to the two wire leads that are on the actual harness, they are just not attached to a Female Molex connector which inturn connect to the fuel pump assembly.

Allow me to look at the parts diagram. Hang tight, others might be able to chime in as well.

Well, rest asurred that there are part number for every single component on our rigs. Its just a matter of finding out the part number of that particular molex connector.

I recommend contact Gordon at Carson Toyota in LA (800) 908-6968 all USA and explain your situation. Sometimes he is of great help and others, well, not so great.

I had a diagram of every molex connector that toyota uses and I think it is on my laptop. (I'm here at work).

I will periodically research things.

Bottom line, there is a way out. Many of us have had to purchase Molex terminals and solder/crimp them onto leads and insert them into the opposing connector. Happens to be our way out when adding voice navigation to our Nav units.

I just got off the phone with Gordon at carson, no disrespect to you Prozac but he wasnt very helpfull at all, infact just the opposite he said he had no idea what I was talking about, and wanted a part number, the guy works at a dealership but wants the part number from me? thats asinine he doensnt know how a fuel tank connects to the wiring? But like I said no disrespect to you you have been more help than anyone has been willing to offer, thank you

Oh, I have to laugh. Sometimes he is that way. He gets easily uncomfortable looking up the part you need in their Illustrated Parts Breakdown.

I have run into your exact problem, and my dealership Lustine counter couldn't pull up the part number for anything if you walked in thier with it in your hand.

Why not just hard wire the two lines onto the fuel pump, that's what you'll have to do with the new plug anyway, as it was stated the original plugs were cut off. So you will buy new plugs, splice them on to the cut lines, then plug them in? Seems easier to just cut the connector on the fuel pump and solder them together. And if the whole harness is one piece why is it so hard to fathom that you can't buy just the plug?

Update- to all who run into this problem in the future, the plugs I needed were #F-10 in the connector diagrams that all toyota dealerships have access too. If they tell you you need to buy a section of the entire wiring setup, ask to speak with a manager and they should get you what you need. I went from thinking I had to spend a couple hundred or as much as 1000 dollars down to twenty bucks! Big thanks to the manager at Carson toyota and a Big FU to the people at gresham and tonkin toyota!

bob villa j-rigg job? I have no idea what that means, but I guess if you don't feel comfortable connecting a few wires then paying $20 for a plug was the right thing to do, glad you're all set.

I needed two plugs, 5 wires to one molex and 2 to another. In order to do what you said I would have to bust up the female connectors on the bracket housing and sauder(sp) all the wires together, them what leave them exposed to the elements? or use electrical tape or electrical putty. The plastic housing on the plugs keeps everything together nice tight and insulated, Im not wiring speakers, its a gas tank, some things have to be done the right way. Dont take this the wrong way but your the one who implied that I dont feel comfortable connecting a few wires.
