Getting a little snow

We are in the midst of a blizzard here in the Boston area, total snowfall expected thru tomorrow morning is two plus feet with some areas possibly getting as much as three feet.

I'm really itching to go for a ride in this but the gov has banned all traffic from public roads until further notice...well that and i've had a couple so no ride tonight. :wink2: Here's a couple pics for all the fair weather folks out there...I'll def post some more pics in the morning after I go for that ride :thumb3:

Billy be safe. Weather like that is normal for us in the mountains, not so much for you guys. Just watch out for the other guy and enjoy! Nothing quite like three feet of new snow on the ground!

Feel really bad for you. We got about foot of show since yesterday night and it was fun today driving over unplowed streets. Should say that 4Runner and Duratracs is very powerful combination, foot of snow is not enough to be a real challenge. I wouldn't mind to have 2-3 feeet of snow here, but no driving bans : )

Hey Billy, it's funny but I thought if you today when I heard of the storm and my brother in law in Portland........stay warm and safe.
BTW it was cold here too today. 5 degrees and windy....my pool was full of leaves and crap, at least you have a cover.

My truck is buried in my parents front yard right now. Not worried about getting out!

I live in Ellington, CT pretty close to the Mass. line. I plowed about an hour ago, just looked out the window and the Silverado has snow up to the top of the center cap. That's about a foot in an hour.

Nice... We are only forecast for about a foot this weekend. Snow bashing is lots of fun on the roads/trails that are not plowed, but also not closed for the season for snowmobiles, which is rare around here.

I'm a bit jealous of all the snow you guys are getting, we're only suppose to get hit with less than a foot here in NY, certainly not jealous of the shoveling though

A little update:

It's been what an hour and a half or so since I posted? At least another 5-6 inches since then and the weather folk say that this heavy snow will last til about sunrise then slowly taper as the storm moves offshore. Thankfully I had my snow blower tuned back in October
Thanks for the well wishes etc... We're no strangers to snow here but it's unusual to get this much in a single storm. Stay safe!!

Wow, really coming down. I am watching the updates of the destruction on the weather channel. Or at least that is how they make it sound.

We haven't had more than a few storms that haven't even generated more than 5" from one storm and this is Denver.

I'll try to get a measurement when it clears up, still going pretty hard here. Then I have to shovel out hydrants for the rest of the day after I plow haha. Any suggestions on how the hell I'm supposed to find a hydrant with so much snow? I have a feeling the markers will be buried in some places, as well.

We got about foot of snow up here in Toronto, Canada. OPP (Provicial Police) asked drivers to stay off highways. In Ontario, the winter blast caused long delays for evening commuters with more than 350 accidents reported in the province alone, and at least four weather-related fatalities.

I've been tempted to test the Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV R winter tires but decided to stay off the roads.

This is only 10 hours worth of snow, we have at least another 4 inches since this. There used to be a red plow on the front of the truck, you can see the little posts to mark where the blade is, but not the plow itself, that's how deep it is. Sunk this thing pretty good, at least it didn't have to get winched off a tree like last time!

Here's from December 30, the entire driveway had frozen, the truck blocked it so I couldn't get any vehicles out. I slid and went 20 feet down the driveway, my dad broke his ankle. Ambulance corps called Connecticut State Police, one of the officers almost fell on the driveway, they ended up calling a wrecker to winch it off the tree.

You should have been getting out, it was a lot of fun yesterday. I drove from work using residential streets - twice more distance, but it was nice and quite safe since there was not much traffic. And show was higher than running boards in some cases, and of course my favorite was crossing heaps of snow after plow did main streets : ) I should have taken few pictures, but competely forgot about camera in my phone.

NWS reported totals for our town came in at 32in. Fired up to trusty Ariens snowblower this morning. Started on the first pull and I left it to warm up while I got dressed. From inside the house I heard a bang and then silence. Got back out to find the engine locked up. Long story short, pulled the electric starter off to find a huge circular crack in the engine with the internals bulging the side out. My neighbor was kind enough to clear my driveway with his bobcat. Not that I can go anywhere seeing as the town said it might not clear our road until Monday.
