Getting a little snow

Out here on Cape Cod - Got at LOT of wind, gust to 80 (maybe more, have not really had the TV with the little one around). Hard to tell the actually snow fall with the drifting. Drifts are about 2' - 3' feet. Driveway had about a steady 10". Opened the garage door and pulled out after the driving ban to check on the shop....love how the 4R handles the snow....finally able to test out the 'new' shoes had put on for the snow (last year) that we never had.

Well I failed on more pics from today...sorry.

I spent about 5 hours today clearing the huge drift of snow that was my driveway which averaged about three feet with the deepest drift down the passenger side of my truck which was up to the windows. Thankfully I didn't suffer the same fate as Mace, as my snow blower worked a treat :thumb3:

After all that work I needed some coffee so I took a ride and i'm happy to report that the snow didn't stand a chance vs the Duratracs. Didn't even have to lock the center diff.

This 4Runner continues to exceed every expectation.

I lied, I do have one pic from this AM. I couldn't open the front door do to all the snow piled up against the storm door so I had to dig my way out the back which also had a big drift. Just my luck :ybrick:

Snowy Somerville

Pic from this morning - we got 2+ feet in Somerville. My 4R made out pretty well compared to my wife's Volvo - her S80 is under that snow drift on the left. You can barely see her side mirror.

Glad you guys are ok! Several years ago we got three feet and a few days later we got two feet. Had to shovel my roof. I still feel that day...

Yup a few years back I also had to clear my roof (the only time) but thankfully this time the wind did it for me.

I got the back half of the roof shoveled today. Will tackle the front tomorrow. With possibility of rain on Monday I'm not taking any chances on the weight or ice damning.

Before I shoveled, I actually took a core of the snow, melted it to check water content and did calculations on roof load. Most others shovelled at the three foot level. I felt safe and did not. We got the additional two feet and I redid the math and was overloaded so I shovelled then. Neighbors then shovelled the two feet additional. I never did decide who had to work harder, me or the neighbors. Anyway, be careful!

Thanks! Stuff like that is sorta normal in my world lol. There is not a lot of guess work in engineering. It would make life more interesting though lol. Could you imagine going to buy a vehicle knowing the engineer who designed it "guessed" at stuff like suspension travel and effective brake area of the pads?

We got less than a foot but it was nice for the kid. Last few years sucked for snow around here. Good news was that I got to test the atv with plow. Snow is now fun for daddy too. Did 1000 feet of wide driveway in about a hour. 4wd plus locking diffs helped and luckily did not need the skids.

Thoughts and best wishes to out brothers up north. Looks pretty and dangerous.

Engineers should have a fair amount of OCD, no? All I had to do was watch the weather that morning, they were forecasting 2 inches of rain on top of the 2 feet of snow that was on my roof. No brainer eh

Wow! I'm near Rochester, NY and we got it last too, but nothing like that!
That's a "2 pass with the snow-blower" snow.

After slip-sliding all over the place last night with my stock Dunlop AT20's, I went tire shopping today.

Same here, plowed my driveway, then the neighbor, then the other neighbor, then the street :lol:

We had a little over 2 feet in Southern New Hampshire........and didn't lose power, a first!

Had snow here in London, ON, Canada on Friday. It was a blast racing through fresh powder. Man, these trucks get you anywhere! Before someone asks why the 4Runner was left outside, the garage was full of lesser snow-loving vehicles.

You should have been getting out, it was a lot of fun yesterday. I drove from work using residential streets - twice more distance, but it was nice and quite safe since there was not much traffic. And show was higher than running boards in some cases, and of course my favorite was crossing heaps of snow after plow did main streets : ) I should have taken few pictures, but competely forgot about camera in my phone.

Snow storm is coming SCANNY, time to play
