Getting A New 4Runner, But......

It's good to hear that Toyota will be willing to take your old SUV back and offer another vehicle. I know Mercedes or other high end dealer/manufacturers won't even consider doing this unless you have a lemon law case and use a good attorney to go after them in court.
Just curious as to what was the main problem with your old Sport.
From reading this thread, it seems like the problem was with the rotor and the caliper? If this is the case, aren't these simple enough things to replace? Just thought these things were minor.

From what it sounds, this is not a "buy back" situation in the context you're thinking of it....this would have nothing to do with a "Lemon Law" type situation. They did not simply exchange him his old 4Runner for a new one, such as a Wal-Mart type exchange. If that ever did happen, you can bet your ass they wouldn't be giving you a Limited from a SportOceanView said:
It sounds like the repair/warranty bill was going to be costly and time consuming, so the dealership cut him a good deal on buying out/rolling over his lease to a new one. Perhaps Mark will correct me and clarrify for us, or maybe he doesn't like posting financial stuff on the web - perfectly understandable.

Northof49, that is exactly correct the way you explained it. Let me clarify what happened:
I brought the truck in last Wednesday (6/8) for routine service. I asked them to check the brakes because they were not feeling right (bad vibration in the pedal, steering wheel pulling to the right when braking, and I had to keep the pedal all the way to the floor to keep it from rolling at a red light). I was contacted by the dealer later Wednesday evening that my front left brake caliper was broken. The excessive heat produced by the broken caliper caused the rotor to warp. In addition, they are not sure if the caliper is the only thing wrong with my brakes, which can only be determined when the caliper comes in. They told me that the caliper is on back order and should be in on Thursday or Friday . The next morning, I am contacted that the caliper is on critical back order, which means that there are none in the United States. They don't know when the part will be in because there is not an estimated time of arrival. On Saturday, we called the GM to see what can be done because the truck will be there for a long time. He calls us back later that eveing and says that he is willing to buy the truck off of the lease and work out a deal on a new one. The dealer did not give me a refund on my 2003 Sport nor did they give me a free Limited. In addition, the lemon law was not involved here. They only bought the 2003 Sport off of the lease and tried to work with us on a new one (there was 15 months left on the lease). I should have been more clear on how they bought it back.
Edit: I don't want to give anybody the impression that I got a free 4Runner Limited or that I got a refund on the 2003 Sport. Believe me, this is far from what happened. I just thought it was nice that the dealer bought the truck off of the lease for me.

I have a question about your new Limited though - why are the running boards not color keyed? I thought this was standard on the Limited.
