Getting a new stereo installed

I had an Alpine Nav Unit. They smashed my passenger window and grabbed the deck from the outside. $6000 in damage!!!!!!!!!!! The factory alarm does not work if you don't open the door. The @#$@holes know that when they broke in. Now I'm trying to decide if I should go stock or upgrade to a better alarm with glass breakage and motion sensors.

Oh man that is painful to look at. I hate the fact that these douchebags get away with this **** everytime.

All I really want is an aux input for my ipod. But loosing my steering wheel controls just for that, meh, not sure its really worth the time and expense of an after market hu.
Anyone have any luck adding an aux and not loosing any of the functionalities of the stock system?

Just for any future stereo installs I am around the Columbus,oh area and can either install or help you install pretty much any stereo for free. It only takes about an hr. Also if you order head units get them through crutchfield. They have unbeatable prices, customize them for your vehicle, send any and everything you might possibly need and offer tech support. Also there are little units that you can buy that plug from you head unit to your steering wheel wires that allows you to use the controls.

Nasty! So they actually smashed the window then crawled through it to get at the stereo....that's terrible. I can imagine when you first saw what happened. It was probably one of those moments where you couldn't believe it at first.

Just my opinion but I am guessing it took them about 30 seconds to do that. What kind or environment/area was it parked in? Would an alarm sounding have made a difference?
For example would you or someone else have heard the alarm?

It happened right in front of my bedroom. I live on the mountain in Pomo. Suburbs. The police told me that the crackheads would bus/bike in and then do a shopping spree. This is actually the second time this has happened to me. Just before Xmas each time.

Thx for the info. And if an alarm did go off, they would disappear quicker that rats. Because that's what they are......slimy rats. It's amazing how fast they can disappear.

Was this a pre-Christmas sale? I've looked on the internet and the best price I've seen is like $240.

I haven't been to a Best Buy store to look, but I did not see this model on their website.

No this unit was $248 at Visions on Marine drive in first week of January. The deck had some minor scratches on it so they knocked off another $20. It was originally $299.

If you are in b.c. I highly recommend Visions, even if this deck was full price. Very helpful and professional installation.
