Getting new 4R - Which options to get?

I plan to soon purchase a 2015 4R Trail 4x4.
Note: I definitely DO NOT WANT 3rd row seat( to give me more storage) or the Moonroof (my head nearly touches). If I read the brochures correctly, I'm pretty much limited to the Trail model.
Here's my questions as to which options I should get:
1. KDSS - I'm leaning toward getting it
2. The NAVIGATION Sound system, even though I may still use my existing GARMIN GPS
3. Hood Protector - I haven't figured out what this is, much less whether I want it?
4. Paint Protection Film - My concern is it may be OK now, but what about 5 yrs. from now?
5. Door Edge Guards - your thoughts please
6. Running Boards - I want something to make it easy for my wife. Get these or aftermarket?
7. Floor mats and cargo mats - Get the factory ones or aftermarket?
8. Anything else I should get when I place my order?

sounds t me like you havent researched very much.

3rd row doesnt exist in the TE
No Moonroof = non premium which = no leather

1. subjective
2. pretty sure all TE have it
3. Crap
4. More Crap
5. Not quite as crappy
6. get the OEM rigid unless you are really gonna wheel it then get some sliders
7. comes with carpet get weathertech
8. a great price!

The hood protector is probably the bug deflector, accessories like those and the edge guards can be purchased cheaper than through the dealer. Floor mats, I got the deluxe toyota ones and still bought the Husky liners. I like them better.

Look on amazon and find the dealers that will sell you accessories much cheaper than the dealer. You'll find things like floor mats, roof bars, cargo covers, etc.

Getting my 2015 TE any day. Like you, I have no need for a 3rd row (TE's don't have it). I did not want the slide out tray either for same reason, more storage space. I went with the TE and not TEP because of the headroom issue (although a sunroof would be nice, not enough to give up an inch). Lost out on the SOFTEX though. I went with KDSS, since those who have it seem to love it, with emphasis on road handling. I am a little concerned about what happens at +50K though, especially with salt in NJ… replacement of KDSS parts is likely expensive, and I question how often the dealers get to work on them and their familiarity with the system. Although I am getting it, I have a small amount of buyers remorse over the longevity/maintenance possibilities. I elected no running boards (they seemed a little too flexy when I tested some at the dealer). I got the factory crossbars. Tow hitch. Entune premium with Nav. All weather floor mats coming too, however, I am going to ditch in favor of Weathertech so that was some wasted money. I also got the factory remote start, but you may want to investigate 3rd party options as some on here question the range and the ignition shutoff features. THose are not a big deal for me.

Now for aftermarket, I have already got a set of 255/75/17 Goodyear Silent Armors (slightly narrower, but taller) to raise up a little and replace the poorly rated stock tires. May possibly also get better mileage with these! Also a set of Bilstein 5100's all around, and a Daytech Rear 1.5 spacer for modest lift. I have an NFab nerf step but am going to hold off on installing that until I have a chance to recoat it with bedliner as the powder coat is prone to rust through in one winter. Weathertech mats and window rain guards. Thats it so far for me. Trying to keep it simple and very functional. Good luck and have fun!

1 - yes. I got it and love the way it drives.
2 - if you get the KDSS, it is bundled with the upgraded stereo and navigation option so you'll get it anyways. Love mine.
3-5 I wouldn't bother. There's likely better and cheaper aftermarket alternatives.
6 - depends on how you're gonna use it. If you're gonna go off road a lot, I'd skip any factory-offered running boards and get a nice set of sliders.
7 - don't bother. Spend $250-300 on Husky or weather techs. I bought the husky and like them a lot.
8 - shop around for the best price.
