Getting sub and Amp hooked up

Bigrupp,

Ok that makes soooo much more sense to me. Maybe i just needed to see it on one thread for my brain to adjust. Thanks! I will try it out tomorrow night.

004Gunner,

Actually i really didnt think that this was going to hit as hard is it did. It really blew me away of how hard it hits. The installer was actually a little suprised. I am not trying to brag or anything but i am also coming from an 8 inch base tube in an accord 2dr so this is a huge upgrade. Spec wise the amp is 250 watts rms bridged at 4ohms and the speaker is a 10 inch DVC sub wired to 4 ohms 200 watts rms so i know its getting enough power.

I believe it. A lot of people don't realize how good only 200 watts sounds. My wife had a JL 12W3 powered by a JL E1200 in her Accord Coupe, until someone decided to walk away with her sub (so she had to upgrade :D). It sounded great and a lot of people couldn't believe that it was only 200 watts. So I'm sure in a 4Runner it sounds great, since I haven't had the pleasure of hearing anyone else's 4Runner except my own.

The DVC gives you more flexibility on wiring too. You could still squeeze more out of that sub by wiring a 2 ohm load, but few amps handle 2 ohms bridged. It just gives you options should you decide to change your amp or add on to the system which is a great feature. And remember that with 200 watts, that's rms. Both my sub and amp can handle peaks to over a grand, that is where people get caught off guard :biggrin2:

Clemsonfan15 the only problem i am noticing now the day after the install is a slightly louder engine noise from within the cabin. I think what happened is they did not want to put a hole through the rubber firewall because i have other standard car wiring going through it, Instead the lifted the bottom up slightly and put the wiring underneath. I need to fix that. I think ill slice the firewall a tad bit so the wire can get into the middle and this way the firewall will pop back in place. As far as my tint goes i have 5 percent on the front windows and since the rest of the windows came with tint from the dealership (tinted glass) they put 20 percent on the bacj to even out the front and back windows.

Ok. That sounds like a pretty good idea.

I thought your windows were kinda dark. :D .

Yea i have to have dark windows, i dont believe in light tint. To me the purpose of putting tint on my car is to keep it as cool as possible and because i dont want to be seen :P Its a little hard to see at night but thats what i got a window for that goes up and down :P

That must suck when it's raining though.

I'm thinking about just doing 20% on mine. I have heard that it is the best of both worlds. It's not the darkest, but you don't have many problems at night.

Have you been pulled over for your tint?

My 2002 accord had limo tint on it and i got a ticket for it but!!! only because i had to go through a DUI check point and every other car was getting randomly checked. My car happend to be one of the cars getting checked and they could tell i wasnt drinking (just got off work) but they used a tint meter on my car and i got a 90 dollar ticket. But i didnt have to take the tint off. My choice was to pay the high fine or remove the tint and pay a 40 dollar fine. I was like bullshit ill jsut keep the tint. ON my 4runner since i had the car (Only a month now) i have not had any problems from cops. I dont think they care much unless your doing something else wrong.

That sucks. $90 isn't bad. I thought they were in the hundreds of dollars to be honest.

How much was it to tint all of your windows, if you don't mind.

Can you tell a difference in heat inside the car?

It cost $150 bucks at tintworld here in south florida. And yea i can tell a big difference with having the tint and not having any tint (just stock that came with the car) I had a 1997 honda CRV with 20 percent in the front and limo in the back but that was so long ago i couldnt tell you if there was much difference between the percentages. I would tell you to get the 20 percent first because it is harder to see at night with the darker tint but that was my choice i made. You can always change the tint out.

Thats a good question. My sunroof is not tinted because i drive with the cover closed anyhow. But someone asked me that before and was kind of shocked when i said i didnt tint the sunroof. Go figure. I also didnt put the little stirp in the front window on the top. I think it looks kind of tacky but thats just me.

They don't care unless they are looking for a reason to pull someone over. Generally a non issue, but there's always that guy who had a fight with his wife that morning and is pissed and looking to take it out on everyone.

So in a lot of places it's a secondary offense?

How much did it cost you Big?

The ticket was for 140, but I got rid of the car and then went to court and got it dropped since it was no longer in my possession. I kind of miss that darker tint, but since I'm getting old and my eyes are getting worse the lighter stuff is just fine.:)
