GF threw a Check Engine P0304 code

So my girlfriend has taken my 97 Limited to Chico Ca from our home in Long Beach (about 500 miles), last night about 15 miles from her folks house she had the runner shudder so she kicked off the cruise control and imediatly the check engine light came on. She called me freaking out because she was worried how I would react. She relayed that the car driving fine now and wanted to know what to do. I told her to keep going as long as it was driving normal.

Thankfully her dad has a OBD scanner and was able to see what was going on. The code P0304 is for a misfiring cylinder, he pulled the plug out and it was extreemly loose, but did not have any blow by on it. He did say that one of the electrodes had a flat spot on it. Her pops cleared the Check Engine Light and said everything is running smooth, so I really dont know what to think. Being 500 miles away it makes it hard to really know whats going on, so I figured this would be the place to ask. After searching it looked to be a fairly common thing for the plug to be bad. Any thoughts?

Time to get new plugs, they are fairly cheap.

Also be thankful your girl called you. A lot of women would have just kept driving and hoped for the best. Oil light? ahh it will go away.

:hatsoff:

hopefully the plug is just the issue. Thats a long fun drive(sarcasm...), did it last friday after school got out, Ill be driving back up in a couple weeks. lmk if you need help working on it and if im around i can help.

Thankfully she is attentive to things like this. Her pops is a big car guy like myself, I think he instilled the fear of God in her years ago when she was learning to drive. I think I am more thankfull that he is such a mechanically inclinded person, he pulled everything apart and did all this for me on his vacation time.

After reading the title of this thread, I thought we were gonna talk about wimmins. I'm pretty sure my wife has a misfiring cylinder all the time:lmao:

Hehe that is about the truth! A lady I work with has an older Taurus that burns oil like crazy. I remind her now and again to check it, her reply.
"I don't need to check it, that light comes on to tell me it is low"

Oh boy...
