Gfluff build thread

I can't remember... How'd you set up your VSC off switch? The staple method? I can't get the damn thing to latch with the staples.

Edit: Fixed the latching, now I'm wondering, to a solder the leads of my vsc mod on or get some sort of magical wiring harness from the Toyota wizards?

Seems easy enuf to splice into the existing wires. That's my plan, anyway....still haven't yet. My stock head unit CD player is near death. I figure I will route the wires at that time, with the dash apart...

Removed front sway bar tonight. Seems so much nicer over the cross ruts in my neighborhood....I'd like to give a wheeling report, but it's been a mall crawler lately. Maybe soon.
Anyone in SoCal been to the area in Gorman above the standard riding areas? The mountain-y area if you make a right at the T in the road? What's up there?

Noice! Little australian there for you.

UCA's?

Also, agreed. The RC's don't get enough love these days.

I'm building kinda a roof rack, or roof tray? it will slide into the stock side rails, with mounts for 2 fuel cans and a full size spare, plus a little extra room. Crappy drawing not to scale, tire overlaps into fuel area a little. Possibly highlift mounts in the future. I will remove when not in need...

Digging it! I'm working on something similar.

Are you using shims to get a good fit-up when you slide this in the rails? Or are you trying to make it without any tolerance?

No shims. It fits in pretty snug. Rails are slightly tapered, narrower at the front.
I might add to it, making it more basket-ish, I dunno. I'm torn...its very sleek as is, but it would be more useful as a basket....
