It's raining right now. Glad I fixed the gaping hole in my firewall. Now my passenger side floorboard is nice n dry.

Oh, I fully realize that wasn't the point....it was just an additional (IMO, ill-thought out) dig at the other poster.

I was just correcting the obvious ignorance inherent to such a comment.

Umm it's my build thread... I didn't ask you to stop. I asked if there was anyone else out there in the Ether that wanted to chime in.

I like so many other are trying to get the thread back on track. I don't like censorship but you clearly like perpetuating nonproductive discourse. "IMO" doesn't make worthless comments okay.

Really? So commentary by your "friends" that constitute insults of an elitist nature gets a pass as "related" while correcting a fallacy does not. Got cha. :)

You want me to stay on topic about your build thread? Fine. Explain the allegation that you're driving around on wheels you didn't actually pay for.

Mind you....it's none of my business, but I'm sure other forum members who may "do business" with you in the future would like to know.
 
IMO, reach-arounds, both literal and metaphorical, may certainly constitute payment in lieu of American Currency.

Elitist mentality is easily justifiable when one possesses all qualtities of being the absolute best in one's field. Period.

Oh hey, I can use big words too! Here I was thinking it was only for the others. (Isn't using big words elitist? And now hypocritical.) ouch sir. Ouch.

So your claim about elitism is that the tools make the man? And you've now decided to double down on it.

Interesting perspective....since all I was really commenting on in this thread was the inaccuracy of your comment.

To 4Reak....I said "tools"....plural, not tool. And no, I don't care to hear about how many tools you've handled in your expert position as a "professional". ;)

Wow...I figured this type of nonsense was more appropriate for the Facebook 4runner Mafia tools. I guess tools can be found anywhere.
 
JFYI....I'm an equal opportunity a-hole. I never intended to get into this discussion at this level......simply to point out what I've learned from experience....spending exorbitant amounts of money on hand tools (particularly) from Snap On/MAC, etc. just means less money to spend on other tools like welders, compressors, benders, ironworkers, presses, rollers, etc.

As for the wheel thing.....I'm guessing this is a verbal contract gone bad for whatever reason. I'm impartial when it comes to these sorts of things and have no dog in this fight whatsoever.....if the OP wants to post up his set of facts, anyone with a modicum of common sense and a little business law experience will be able to discern the truth. If not, the seed of distrust planted by the mere accusation will likely fester. It's his call how he wants to handle it....not that he needed my permission.

I appreciate your honesty as well as your confidence. My tool bound logic was clearly a clever remark towards an amatuer who doesn't want to hear experiences based on factual findings from a 10 year, all-I've-ever-known-as-a-human, Mechanic. However, my arguement would be as follows:

Competence would be shown with a display of success IMO. When a person becomes more and more successful (or in this case, continues to be competent) they then have the luxury to afford those super expensive tools. That's why successful businessman drives Mercedes and not Hyundais. Yeah, both get you where need to be, but at some point you have the ability to step your game up if you're successful at what you do. He's a hobbyist. Good for him and all of us that like to tinker. Hands on is a lost art.

These Craftsman users probably flip the extra buck for the expensive truck parts however. Short cutting tools, paying out the ass for an oil filter. It's an interesting conundrum isn't it?
JFYI: I'm an equal opportunity tool user. Whatever gets the job done. My original comment was directed at an individual who did not display the needed knowledge nor skills to play major league. He's playing College ball, I'm about to retire as MVP.
