Ghetto Mods, anyone?

I promise, I'm not trolling. There are tons of fancy modification threads out there. While fun to view and certainly a source of inspiration to many, how about something different? (No, I didn't perform a search to see if it's been done already)

I think it would be cool to see all of the jerry-rigged, sloppy, poor workmanship that some of you have done to your Runners and still dare to show your faces around here.

Any takers? :hatsoff:

I think this pic sums it up for me:

Ghetto light covers, homemade roof rack made from Recycled Clothing racks, and my Safari light bar....(Don't miss any of them...lol)

Man, I couldn't even tell what that rack was made of. That's awesome. Did you paint or make the light covers?
 
That rack turned out way cool though!

This thread should be interesting, there is a little bit of tweaker in all of us...
 
I did an antenna mod because I'm a cheap ass and didn't want to buy a taco whip.

What I did: I remved the antenna motor. I put some JB Weld inside my antenna while it was up all the way so it would stay up. I then tied a iHome antenna to the antenna and wired it up my door jam. I noticed a slight improvement in reception.

Yeah...I used to work in a Retail Store...found a dump bin out back with some clothing racks and decided to see what I could do with them.....

The light covers were just some clear AVS light covers, that I masked off on the inside and painted to match the body color. I took them off over a year ago, and actually just threw them away 2 days ago..... :)
 
Redneck ashtray mod...

Oh, yeah, these are the best. :banana:

Problem: I'm not a smoker, so like a lot of non-smokers, I carry spare change in my ashtray. Change weighs a lot more than ashes, so the springs holding the ashtray in are not heavy enough to hold an ashtray full of change. Also, being a 12 year old vehicle (actually 13 now) the springs on the ashtray are weak.

Solution: After much thought about what to do (including just ditching the ashtray - it gets really annoying when every time you hit a bump the ashtray falls open and change falls on the floor) :redbrick: I finally hit on a simple solution:

Two wood screws into the dash on either side of the ashtray, and a rubber band in between:

Is it Stupid? Yes. Does it work? Yes.

We have a saying in the Army: If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

I do need to change the rubber band periodically as it dries out and eventually breaks, but my ashtray doesn't come open, even on the roughest trails!
 
haha i used to put my change in the ashtray too until i went weelin and all the weight made my ashtray fall out, the change went everywhere, it was a mess! I had recently discovered the designated coin holder in the upper part of the center console and solved that problem! :bravo:

regardless im sub'd, I would like to see where this thread goes
