I don't think it was answered yet but I saw the instructions say cut the factory exhaust off.
1) do you absolutely have to do this and
2) will the factory exhaust be able to be installed again if it does get cut? Thanks!

You don’t have to cut the exhaust. I was able to remove the bolts in question with a breaker bar. There are two bolts on a bend that goes over the rear axle that are quite stuck, but I was able to access them from where the spare tire is located. (Banged up my knuckles a bit)
That said, my car is about a year old only....
And yes you can reinstall the factory exhaust. I placed the stock one back on no problem.

My car is 3 years old and live in Michigan so the bolts were significantly rusted and seized on. I had to cut. If you are able to get the bolts off without cutting there is no reason the old exhaust cannot be put back on.

Exactly. I did not have to cut as my 18 SR5P as the bolts removed easily. I gave my exhaust to my mechanic and he was thrilled. He also owns a 18 SR5P. Now he wants a Gibson CBE. Ha.
Did you guys use a lift? I had my rear end jacked up as high as I could with my jacks and 2x4s and still couldn’t get enough clearance to get the end piece out. After 30 min of twisting it every direction I just cut the tip off.

Has anyone had this kit welded up instead of using the crimps?
A lot of my past experience is with cars where you would get mandrel bent cat back exhausts all as one piece or two that would have a spring/flange where they bolted together.

Yes, I should have mentioned that brought it to my mechanic's and he helped me install it on a lift. It was also good so I could shake the exhaust so he could isolate the rattles. He then torqued everything down and I am a happy customer. He also let me use the lift for over an hour so I could apply a layer of fluid film before the Winter.

Did it on the ground. Did not need to lift the rear end up at all. I simply lowered the spare tire and it gave me enough room to get it out. Did not cut the exhaust in any way. Just unbolted and dropped tire. Easy peezy.

I had it on jack stands and used an exhaust cutter with limited success, finished off with a sawzall.

I bought the exhaust last year and here's the easiest way to get the stock exhaust off. Jack up the passenger rear side, drop the spare tire and the shield that protects the spare. Then unbolt the two bolts(14mm) in front of the muffler and undo all the rubber exhaust hangers from the exhaust. This should drop the front of the exhaust giving you plenty of room to loosen the two bolts(14mm) behind the muffler.

Yes they do and that whole end section is black ceramic, not just the tips!!! The ORIGINAL version WAS NOT like this, and the tips bolted on and were ugly. This one is welded tips and all black, even the exhaust tubing!

Got my Gibson catback and unfortunately I'm not happy with it.
It's louder than I thought it would be and my wife already hates it. Here is a video of what it's like during normal driving conditions.

I gotta say though, I was a little disappointed with Jason. Many of my emails weren't getting answered and when I texted him (at his request), again many weren't answered. After I ordered this product, I knew it was going to be in a large package and wanted to get an idea of when it would be shipped. I didn't want this sitting on my doorstep while I'm away. After several texts (some were never answered), low and behold it arrives at my house with no notice. No shipment notification, no tracking nothing. After a couple weeks of asking when I should be expecting it, it just arrives. I had to rush home from an appt because there was no hiding this box. It literally stuck out like a sore thumb.
Now granted, Jason's pricing was good so I'll give him that. And when he did respond, he was nice enough. I even spoke to him at the very beginning. Maybe he's just busy?

We've been dumped on with snow, the other week snow and ice and power out for two days, then couldn't charge my cell phone unless it was from the car. Crazy crap with this damn snow. No other excuse, except weather and me plowing neighbors driveways as I'm too nice.
Only other thing is Gibson does take a while to makes these systems and a lot of the time they dont' send the tracking until I get the invoice and that's sometimes AFTER the item has already shipped. More snow today from 5am-8am 3-4", and then at 3pm where are supposed to get, 3-4" more, then Sunday a huge storm that's so big schools have already cancelled for Monday! It's absolutely ridiculous. If I could use profanity in here I would, but I'll keep it civil.

Give it some time. Mine took about 200-300 miles for it to break in and the sound to mellow out. It really was loud at first and now is much better.
I agree. To my ears, it's just loud, not a good exhaust note at all. Immediately after installing it soundproofing the T4R came to the top of my list.
Soundproofing the back area helped a bit.
This exhaust has drone at 1200RPM. I love a good loud exhaust but this setup is not tuned at all. I added a Vibrant resonator in front of the Gibson muffler and this reduced the cabin noise and drone significantly.
