gobi ladder has stuff in it rattling

i just received my gobi rack and when i picked the ladder up i realized they left a bump of crap in the rungs so it makes noise when moved. has anyone else experienced this? i know it seems trivial but it kinda bothers me they wouldnt empty the tubing before welding everything

No but I'm noticing that my gobi rack fairing or the lighr bar, or both rattle when it's cold, which is all the time now. It's driving me crazy and I am looking at what the cause is and how to stop it.

Mine was that way, didn't sound like a tambourine or an egg shaker but yes some weld spatter or something is in there, not a huge bother because my radio works
 
Yeah I mean there are plugs in the rack itself that could allow one to remove these particles in there but the ladder is a different story. I guess as long as i can't hear it in the car I'll be ok. But right now it sounds like a damn rain stick haha

Once it's installed won't the particles just sit at the bottom? Maybe they would move on bumps but do you think you will hear that inside the truck? I did not notice any pieces in mine but it's been a few years since install so could have been there.

Funny you mention when it gets cold. I noticed my bajarack whistling now that it has gotten colder.

If you are worried about something that petty then please don't tap on your wheel center caps with your fingers...

I definitively have a touch of OCD so it just bothers me in general. However it probable won't make any noticeable noise. But if I'm fabricating something so expensive, why even risk leaving something so simple to fix to the chance of being a possible nuisance. Again, trivial i know. I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this.

Understood but $1K is not a lot of money anymore. Even $40K for our vehicle is not a lot when the AVERAGE paid last year was $35K. If you want serious quality that will go anywhere spend $85K on a LandCruiser.

I guess so but that's a lot of money to me regardless of average car price paid last year. Either way, inflation and economy aside, I just wouldn't have expected something like that from the reputation Gobi has for making such a quality product. From one engineer to another, I hope you can understand a somewhat critical perspective.
 
So go buy one of those strong little magnets, rub it around where everything is rattling, trap all the pellets and leave the magnet where it can't be noticed. Or drill a 1/4" hole somewhere and pull the pellets to the hole and out.

Easy.

I actually think you might be on to something here... but where do you think he should put the cup holder? :cheers:
