Gobi Ladder - Stronger Gas Spring?

so is the plate issue worked out yet? Or are some of you guys still having issues?

BTW MeBe, the back of your runner is about as junk filled and ill organized as the back of mine currently LOL.

New struts installed today. Stronger? Damn thing almost took my arm with it as it launched towards the sky. :bravo:

Ladder going back on tomorrow!

Talking to Sandra it's almost as she hinted that they are being put together at Gobi. Can't be so, I'm sure, but it sure sounded like it.
 
i dont really need the roof rack,

just want the ladder and the stronger struts.

hopefully they get the plate problem worked out in time for summer :hungry:

Yes and no. Yes, because of the spacing between the rear door and body of truck. I didn't know this but when i had the truck repaired from the deer incident they took my trunk door off and didn't put it back properly, they put it way to close to the frame of the truck.

So Paul made another plate.... 1.5 weeks in and so far so good!

I will post an image of it once i get the all clear! :)
 
New Struts and Ladder installed but.....a new rub issue! I think its because the new struts open the tailgate all the way to heaven.

Temporary fix with black electical tape. Should have went getto and used duck tape.

MeBe4running, is this the issue Paul is working on?
 
Any guesstimates how much extra weight the new struts can handle compared to stock ones? I have an idea for a mod to the hatch that will add enough weight to over power the stock struts

No clue but try to find the weight of the ladder. Multply by 10 and you should be fine.

I'm surprised Gobi is putting out a product like this... do they not have a 5th Gen to do some developmental testing with?

Okay:

I am working EXTREMELY close with paul on this issue. I will be lending him my truck next week to work on this issue(s). Yes it shouldn't happen. The solution is a new plate and he is working the tweaks as we speak. I have had the new prototype for a little under two weeks and no issue APART from what phillyd2 has just posted.

The reason this is happening is the new "Heavier Duty Struts" actually open the door further than the stock ones, causing it to make contact with the top of the truck. (Kill two birds with one stone)

Hang tight, i am as eager to solve this as y'all are. I have set this thread to go straight to my phone when someone posts a response, with that being said I will try to keep everyone posted and update as to the progress of this issue.
 
Thanks for the update. I may need to jump on this as I would really like to finish my sound deadening in the rear hatch. The only reason I avoided it was because of the weight.

Yeah my bad. Work life pays for my real passion though that being said its a real tax of my time!

I have one (main) dream and thats to build my truck for extended travels. I have one issue, paying for it and then living it! Trying to find the equilibrium between working and "modding" your truck is proving to be a challenge! However I will prevail and live the dream "Outside the box"! :boink:
