I know a few of you have the Gobi Ladders. I was looking on their site and a few other places and did not see what kind of weight they hold. I usually stand on my tires when getting to the rack, but now that I have the awning on the one side and fishing rods on the other, I may need to go up the back. I am seriously considering getting one, but was not sure how heavy duty they are. Any comments on this would be appreciated. Also, they appear pretty easy to install. Is that right?

pretty easy to install. I weigh 200 and it holds me just fine. I don't really use the ladder to get up top, I found I use it more to hold boards that stick out the back window. I've also used it to ratchet strap the tailgate to the receiver hitch when I have things too long to shut the lift gate. doing whatever I can to not spend $1,200 on a roof rack. Unless of course [MENTION=49966]mikey's2010SR5[/MENTION] wants to give me one for free.

somehow I've had my ladder on for almost 2 years - still on stock struts and they perform fine. strange I know.

Thanks all. I have the ARB Aluminum rack which I LOVE and is so useful. I think I may need to get the ladder now that I know it holds a good amount of weight.
Also, thanks for the strut upgarde idea. I would not have thought about that upfront, but when the gate closed on its own I am sure it would have occured to me.
Any special size strut I am looking for (weight amount) etc.?

Mounts to the lift gate; no other mounting points needed. a plate at the top and a wrap around bracket at the bottom.
I've had mine for about 2 years and still on the stock struts. But a search should get you the info on the replacement struts pretty easy.
I climb on mine fairly regularly and my 132lbs has not done anything to it other than being provided an easy way onto my roof rack.

+1 The ladder is great to haul steel/wood through the hole and strap to it... Although it does limited how wide you can carry something sticking out the back with the window rolled down... But if you remove your headrest and stick your head out the window you can almost carry anything.
Also the rack is great to protect your truck if a tree falls on it.
