Gobi - Short for Cash GO BYE?

I was looking at the Gobi rack and was really impressed but....is it really worth dropping 2K for all the fixin's? Rack w/sunroof insert and ladder?

Also, I read on another thread that the mounts for the Roto Pax was a bit tight to mount. Would be an option to buy the Gobi designed for the sunroof and buy the insert? That way the mounts can be mounted directly to the insert without and clearance issues.

I hate being a newbie, the brain just can't shut down. So many possibilities and so little time and money.:cry2:

I love my Gobi and my Rotopax. I have my Rotopax on the rear, but a couple of people have mounted them to the sunroof insert. If you get everything at the same time, mount the Rotopax BEFORE you mount the Gobi to the roof. otherwise, you can still mount them, but it's a bit more of a chore due to the small space between the roof and the bottom of the rack.

Keep in mind you will need extra base plates for the Rotopax (to sandwich the rack in between) and you will want to get the international fuel spout.

Now lets talk about my consulting fee if you are watching money go bye... this hobby gets expensive. LMAO.

In my personal opinion a rack is one of the best mods to purchase. I have the Baja Utility with sunroof insert and a Gobi ladder. By far the most used mod on my truck. Me being impatient would keep me from ever waiting for Gobi.

As far as 2k, that is a bit high even with all the accessories. I believe you can get the Baja utility, insert, and ladder for under $1300. Should be the same with a Gobi.

A long wait seems normal for the best of the best when it comes to T4R products and in the long run, well worth the wait.

Where did you get the price of $2000?

RiDE is offering a rack, either the stealth or ranger, and one accessory for $1289 shipped. He also recently posted in the Gobi thread that they are again saying 4 weeks but in reality I would double that. Still not cheap and it is a long wait and Gobi has no concept of customer service but the rack is top quality and worth the price if you can get past the negative aspects of obtaining one.

I really really think they are overpriced along with most other aftermarket parts for this truck so far. Not that impressed for 1k. 500-800 ok but not 1k plus.
