I'm really interested in once of these, but I'd really like to get a good feel for how people are using their Racks. What are they carrying, and what mechanisms they are using to attach to rack.
This may be worthless question, but I'm very curious on what set-up people have. Thanks.

The ability to carry additional cargo adds so much utility and versatility... I pretty much use only Tie-Downs and Rubber bungee cords like this.
Coming from a truck, its helped me bridge the gap (a little) going to an SUV. At least for items that I don't want inside the cab, even with the seats folded down.
EZ-Up / Quick shade
Folding tables
Shovles
Traction Pads
The occasional pelican case
That said... I actually off-road the truck. I very much dislike adding additional weight up there sometimes.
1. I can absolutely feel that I installed a roof-rack. The truck feels different.
2. It's noisy. The added wind noise even with a fairing is noticeable. In addition to that, you can feel the aerodynamic loading at speed.
3. With weight like high-lift jacks, tires, water up there, the truck starts be feel "weak in the knees" at highway speeds and off-road when you are shifting weight loads a lot.
These days, only the lightest gear gets to the roof. The bulky or long items items like shoves, ez-up, and tables I don't want in the cab is a welcome upgrade, but I don't like heavy gear up there.
It's already easy enough to roll the thing bone stock on a good trail.
I sometimes wish it was aluminum, I don't need it to be as heavy duty.
That said, I don't think I would take it off, I really like having it, but for aggressive off-road I prefer minimum roof loading.
