Gobi vs Bajarack shipping time?

I've been wanting this rack for awhile now and after seeing many of your posts on this site as well as IG, I finally took the plunge and ordered one for myself on Dec 15. I'm fully aware of the wait times as many have posted, however I'm in the middle of a Canadian winter and don't plan on installing this until the summer time. So wait time isn't an issue.

What have you guys done for rust prevention prior to installation? Is there a product that I can spray on before I slap this rack on?

Hopefully I can post some photos sometime down the road.

Is recommend getting it bare steel and having it coated elsewhere.
1) Gobi coating appears to add weeks to lead time
2) Gobi coating is very thin

Hello, my fellow Gobi Rack owners. Quick question. I just received my rack yesterday, and I ordered a stealth, low rise, and no led rack. Is there suppose to be two support bars in front of the rack?

Yea it looks like you got the led bar version. I have the no rise, but you can see the two support bars in front.

I ordered a Gobi ladder to pair with my Prinsu rack back in October, thinking, "shouldn't be as bad of a wait..its a ladder" wrong wrong wrong.

I got an email that was obviously not directed to me but, a mass email to their customers stating that they will start shipping orders in February. At this point..yeah I was a bit upset/boggled why a ladder would even take that long (or as long as a rack would) but right now i'm actually impressed.

RR Martin might actually finish the Game of Thrones book before I get the ladder and he started it in 2016 lol.

Initially I wanted Baja but heard the ladder might be too heavy for the door to stay open (shocks wear faster).

Yes, I agree. The look grew onto me overtime. So it worked itself out. I guess good things do come to those who wait.

Guys I ordered a Gobi over 4 months ago, and now that it's about to be here soon I am having second thoughts. My SR5 barely fits in my work garage right now, and with the roof rack it would be a total no-go. Plus I keep my truck outside throughout the northeast winters, and I'm just not sure if I'm ready to expose such an expensive rack to all the elements up here.

Anyway if you are interested, I would likely (need to double check) be able to have it shipped directly to you since it's coming from straight from Gobi.

Price is $1800 for those who are interested:
2010+ Gobi
Ladder included
Wind deflector included
Rear door gas struts included
No front rise option
Full length (no sunroof cutout)

I received this letter from Gobi on November 9th (order placed August 4): "We are currently working on this order however we do not have an accurate ship date just yet. You are welcome to check back with us in a couple of weeks, if you have not received a shipping notification."

May be worth contacting them to ask about cancelling, I know they say "all orders are final" but theres always a chance they could use your rack towards someone else's order.

If you ordered August 4, that's over 3 months, not 4 FYI. So that's still within "12 to 16 weeks."

I ordered mine at the beginning of July, so I'm sitting on 19+ weeks now.

--Jan 18th - Rack is ready to ship, just waiting on payment so they can release it

So that's 1 day shy of 25 WEEKS. Wow. And I don't even know if I even want it anymore considering I didn't pay up front.

If anyone may want it, let me know. I have to think about it, going to give it a day or so before taking action on the payment.

Had mine installed yesterday at 25 weeks and it is worth it. Your choice, but for me I was going with it after ordering it in late July!

Ha. I went through the same thing. After debating it back and forth and changing my mind every 6 hours, I ended up going through with my purchase. Now it's mounted, it brings me joy every time I look at it or when I am able to put my dog crate in the car and the camping gear up top. Not to mention the comments I get about how manly my vehicle looks. And yes, there is the occasional comment that I am over compensating for something . Now I am looking into buying a kayak to enhance my outdoor experiences.

Worst case is that you can resell it for one or two-hundred less down the line.

The Yakima Load Warriors (Kayak holders) fit real nice on the crossbars. Just tested that out the last couple days.

Congrats, I’m at 20 weeks (9-7-17 order date) and haven’t heard a peep. I estimated 20-30 when I ordered, but now seeing people who ordered after me getting theirs may prompt an inquiry via TD.
