going to buy new UCA, help decide.

I have the SPC/light racing uca's from toytec. I have had them for 1.5 years with out problems. I live in Idaho where we have snow and I go off-road all times of the year. I would recommend them to anyone.
 
Several people have been running the eBay UCA with some minor tweaks pre-install and have had no problems since. eBay UCA

There is a lot of talk about them in other sections. The conversation swings from good and bad (bad has been from those that are speculating and have not actually ran them), but the people that are running them have had no issues...except for one guy who had a shop install them upside down and backwards, recipe for disaster for any UCA.
 
I have read the eBay UCA post. They seem legit but I think you get what you pay for in the end. Still stuck debating in my head whether spc LR or uniball due to where I live.

I drive everyday to work, round trip total is 50-60 miles. I love near ocean at the moment. I do however take care of my truck. In summer, almost every weekend I'd give it a rinse. This winter, I have also washed the snow/salt of here and there. When I has the chance. I noticed nj use ALOT of salt this winter season.

Last time I went off roading, the terrain had, water,beach sand, mud and dirt.
 
I think you will be fine with the LR's, but I've just never been a fan of them. I've personally seen one break and the bushing issue would be frustrating. It is nice to have the seal ball joint, but I've heard way too many bad reviews of them to ever go with them. I have the All Pro's and really like how they ride. Plus changing the Uniballs is very easy to do if you ever need to.

How long have you had the uniballs and what kinda weather do you live in ?
 
Good point sir. I just got of the phone with built right. And James at built right, guessing the boss, said LR is basically China junk. Don't know if he is trying to push his product or what. He said he has heard nothing but bad things about LR, and he said i f you maintain the uniballs, he sees no issue about the weather.

So are you going Built Right? Will they ship straight to you?

I almost bought the SPC/LR arms for $378 shipped but i couldnt do it with the uncertainties involved (ie ball joint life). I called built right but no answer... I asked a question on their website and no reply... I had no idea how to buy them online or what their price was so I got the all pro. I ended up getting the All pro control arms for $508 shipped. $130 difference and I get uniball and proven design. Just clicked the checkout button. haha.

What type of lubricant comes with the all pro uniball and where would I find the dry lubes you mention?

Honestly, yes. I'm leaning towards built right. And yes they ship straight to you. Every time I call someone always answers. Take into consideration that they are located in CA. Believe its $500+shipping. They use stainless steel uniball, but not the kitchen type stainless steel. He said it will get some surface rust if it sits for a looooong time. Other then that he said they ship world wide and have never had any complaints. All pro seem legit to. What type of uniball they use and size ??
 
I'm researching UCA's, how has your All Pro's been treating you? any sqeaks? anything problems installing

I'm leaning towards LR with Balljoint, I'm more 90% DD and 10% offroad. I figure it can cope with the 2.5 inch lift I plan.

I'm worried about the uniballs,
do I really 'need'
are they really 'stronger'
will they really last 'longer'
read they require more maintenance... why do you want this?

I understand they can get more travel, but read the LR with ball joints get nearly the EXACT same travel...

the support, I agree, if they can answer their phone LR might have my $ today.

the All pro's look/sound nice, good reviews, but they up'd their price to $650. dang.

If you are willing to spend the money, get the Total Chaos UCAs. I have them and they are top notch. I didn't put any lube on the uniballs, not even the triflow drylube. I've spoken to the guys at TC directly and they said to just keep them clean, no lube needed. I literally wipe them down with a damp towel when they are dirty. No squeaks or funny noises. You will notice your steering will become more solid since the upgrade corrects your caster.
 
I love my LR UCA's. So far so good. Dont have to keep them clean. Just not as pretty as uniballs.

I too have TC upper arms, after 60k miles with a lot of hard off-road miles in there the uniball is squeak free, the bushings look like they are nearing the end of their life though.

I went with BUILT RIGHT UCA. Can't complain at all. The only sqeei I hear is at idle speed when car is moving. But I think I just need to grease the busings more. I trust BR because they make custom stuff for trucks such as baja.

Had them on for about 3-4 months. And no rust on the uniball or any signs of wear. I do throw some dry lube on it once in a while. Usually after car wash.

But between all pro, TC, BR, camburg. It's really just preference. Like fox, king or icon. It's what you like.
