Going to pick up a 4runner...which one?

That is true, but it looks amazing when clean!! I have a black SR5 and I love the look of it, plus it's a 4Runner, so it doesn't matter if it's dirty.

I personally like the look of the Trail, but I wouldn't utilize all of the features such as crawl control and the KDSS much at all. As for the limited, you get the XREAS suspension, so it's better than the SR5 ride I hear and if you don't go off-roading much, then it may be your better choice. Ultimately, it's up to you and what you decide, just make sure you get what YOU want and are happy with. Good luck, it's a tough choice we've all made before. Either way, you are getting an excellent vehicle.

THIS. Get what you want if you can and dont waste money on crap you wont use.... that is my philosophy. I went with the SR5 w/ leather and 3rd row and swapping out the suspension and tires for 5100s on all 4s (set to level) topped off with BFG ATs.... probably slap a rack on top and call it a day

Alright...so its come down to two pretty specific models...
1. Shoreline Blue TE w/KDSS and Nav
2. Black Limited AWD w/ standard Nav

We'll see what happens...feedback is welcome

I was SET on a Shoreline Blue TE w/KDSS and Nav when I first decided to get another T4R. Could NOT find that combo anywhere at the time (Shoreline Blue TE's were nowhere at the time - mid 2011).

Glad I waited as now will get exactly what I want and will 'actually' need/use...a Limited that I'll just toughen-up a bit with wheels/tires, different running boards, and slight lift (spacers). Come on 2013's!!!

Who knows? That's one of those questions to which nobody 'really' knows the answers yet. Release dates, features, etc are all speculation for now (and tend to drive people in forums nuts when we start seeing the "when are 2013's coming-out?", questions). ;^)

But I am banking on at LEAST the audio/nav stuff being upgraded/refined as 2012 was sort-of a transition year as they get those components ramped-up for the T4R line. E.g Entune to JBL w/o Entune, etc. (look at some of the top of the line new products by Toyota/Lexus and you'll get the idea). It's debatable about 'mid-cycle' refresh cosmetically...lots of opinions of course.

The guy I plan on buying from says he can usually get a decent idea of when the new models will be hitting as he'll see that the plant stops producing/shipping 2012's...they see it in the pipeline when looking at inbound units.

We'll see...I really don't even bother asking for more 'guesses' as they do a great job of keeping the facts out of the public domain (they of course need to sell '12 for now). Worst case, the diffs/options won't be that big a deal and I'll just see if it's worth the price savings to go back to a '12 when the time comes.

But if nothing is even leaking out by the END of July, it'll be hard to wait.

I haven't read very deep in there. Not sure why the dealer didn't emphasize that to try and close me if that's the case. Sheesh...too funny how even you saying just that bit of additional info makes me start 2nd-guessing and reaching for my checkbook! Ha.

Well, either way, I am waiting until the end of July so I can use more cash and less credit. Patience...ugh.

Ha...then there's THAT. Some things could go the 'wrong' way, I suppose.

One thing you can count on for 2013....a cost increase of a few hundred bucks. They also shrunk the NAV screen with the new entune units in 2012 vs 2011, so be careful what you wait for.

SR5 and use the extra money for upgrades if you want them.

It always makes me laugh how some folks say they get the SR5 because they don't do offroading but get the TE if they do. They are not that different and the SR5 is fully capable of going offroad.

Get one in the color you want, with the price you can afford, and the options you want. Oh if your married the one the wife likes the best too. To be honest either way you go your getting a great vehicle.
