I'm printing a few maps out. Anyone got a real GPS? On that shows geocoords? I'm sure we'll be fine w/o it'd just help since this is unfamiliar territory.

What numbers you need, I have cal backroads book that has the coordinates in them.

I have a ap on my tablet called orux maps that works (with an external antenna) off of a GPS signal, and you can (but I havnt yet) download and overlay google earth to it.

Here's my list of supplies for a normal camping trip:

-sleeping bag x2

-fold-out grill
-pots/pans
-utensils
-lantern
-fishing gear:fishing:
-bug spray
-extra clothes/thermals:smow:
-toiletries
-case of water
-cooler of food and yummy drink:cheers:
-boom boom sticks:hunter:
and dog food for the dog

Gonna bring an extra 5gal gas can on this run. Bowman trip we were all on 1/2 tank when we hit the camp site.

Does anyone have some fire wood that they can bring with? We got lucky last time and found plenty on the trail up to Bowman.

Figured I should post up over here now that Jon has done all the hard work and rounded up what looks a great group of guys for this run.

I'm the OP of this event on the previous thread, and I look forward to seeing all of you out on the trail.

NOTE: I have to warn you that this is my first time planning a trail run, and I will probably have the least built rig, so go easy on me =).

We need a meet-n-greet location/time. Always best to hit the trails as early as possible allowing for any hickups along the way and camp setup.

How many people taking a route through Grass Valley?

I'm unfamiliar with Downieville but it is closer to the trail head and might be better.

An suggestions are welcome

Downieville has 2 parking lots there, about 20 slots apiece. Very small tight little town, and easy for everyone not to miss or get lost from everyone, approx., 1 hr. drive time from Grass valley. I think most people will be coming in from this direction.

Agreed. Downieville is a good one.

The other possibility is right where Highway 49 meets Gold Lake Highway. This is about 3 miles from the entrance to the campground, and there is a general store with restrooms, a small diner, and fuel / water.

Although, it's not the cheapest place to buy fuel, and there's limited cell phone coverage. Downieville definitely has more restaurants, etc.

Speaking of which, how many are planning on coming up Friday? I'm figuring I want to be to the camp entrance no later than 2 or 3 to leave plenty of time for setting up camp. That would put us in Downieville around 1:00.

I'll be up for lunch in Downieville around 1:00! I'll still meet in Grass Valley at Raley's around 11:30 for some food and they have a HUGE selection of craft beers and liquor. It's about 45min to Downieville from there.
