Good Deal?

Hey guys, just happened to be browsing craigslist when I came upon this:

1999 Toyota 4runner

Does that price seem like a good deal? I've wanted a 4Runner for a long time, and this one is tempting. I suppose I could wait for my dream Highlander, but I want a 4Runner so bad!!! :crybaby:

*Side Note* This would be a non off-road rig. IE mainly commuting 200 miles/week, with the occasional trip to the mountain or romp on the beach where 4x4 would be needed.

Looks like you've already got a commuting rig in that Camry. Save your pennies and wait for the Runner you want. I made a quick decision on the one I have, and while I don't regret it, I will definitely take a lot more time to buy my next 4Runner.

Thanks for the advice man. When the time comes, what should I be paying close attention to when inspecting the Runner I want to buy?

The condition seems good, the mileage is low(average is 15K a year). It looks like it has a lift... Have a mechanic check it out, it would be well worth it.

If you have a can that you are running 200 miles a day in then I say wait. This is a nice 4runner and seems clean. I think he is a little off on the price but that is just me(5k would be better). If 6k is in you're budget, then wait a little longer and save more and then you have a option to pick up "THE ONE". I was looking for a 99 highlander but took a 99 limited because I got a screaming deal on it:clap2:.

If you are looking for a Highlander take a look in the for sale section. I know there is a REALLY nice one for sale right now for not much more than this 4runner you are looking at on CL. Just a heads up buddy.

Thanks so much for the advice guys. I think I'll go ahead and pass on that Runner for now, but I have a new dilemna and need your advice:

So I have my heart set on a '99-'00 Highlander Runner but I couldn't help but notice that the Limited models of the same years come stock with AWD. Living in freaking rain all the time Portland, that AWD feature would be really nice when there's standing water all over the roads most of the year. But I hate leather seats and wood trim...So, would I be better off sticking with the Highlander, or getting a Limited and swapping the aforementioned interior features?

Seams like you will have an easier time finding a limited. I picked up a 2000 with 162k miles for your$4900 but it needed tires immediately. I love the awd and rear diff locker feature though.
