Good Deed for the Day.....

Driving back from an appointment in Houston today and saw a couple of vehicles stuck in the median between I-10 and the service road. I had enough time between my next appointment if I hurried, so I looped around and went back and offered to help.

This family was moving and had a blow-out on their car trailer. The wife had tried to drive her mini-van across the median and got stuck. The husband had unhooked from the trailer and tried to pull her out w/ his Chevy z71 with a HEAVY load in the back and street tires - he got stuck as well. So when I got there both family vehicles were stuck in the median, the trailer had a blow-out and the irritation was palpable! The husband was attempting to (unsuccessfully) extract the mini-van w/ a floor jack.

I hooked my '12 DCSB OR up to the z71 and the Mickey Thompsons hooked up in the soft ground - didn't even spin the tires! Of course, I forgot to get pictures till afterwards, here are the ruts...



Drove back around and hooked up to the mini-van, few minutes later it was out and parked on the side of I-10:










Everybody seemed a lot happier, so I left them to there trailer tire....

No, that was his. When I got there he was unsuccessfully try trying to use the floor jack to get the sand ladder up under there.

He probably would have got it out eventually, but it wouldn't have been fun. I imagine I saved his wife a little grief!

actually, upon second glance, was that really a sand ladder or just one of the rails/ramps he used to get his car onto that trailer?

I thought it was a trailer ramp - but I've only seen one set of sand ramps years ago, so I wasn't in a position to argue .

She was actually - petite, dark! Husband was rather aggravated by the time I showed up and was only starting to wind down by the time I left, figured I'd better not aggravate the situation any worse....

I forgot to mention, that is one really nice '67 Camaro!!!
