Good Info on 1GR-FE

I found this manual when looking for more detailed information about the 1GR-FE (V6) engine. This manual is for the FJ Cruiser, but it contains a lot of information about the 4.0L V6 that is applicable to the 4Runner as well.

This information is over my head in most instances, so I would be interested to see any comments about the 1GR-FE engine design from all of our members who are more knowledgable than I am about this stuff.

Good info, but what is not mentioned...

speaks volumes about Toyota's confidence in this engine that they have made this the only engine for the FJ and the preferred engine for the Tacoma (not to mention the default engine for the 4Runner).

Also, just checked on trdusa and they have developed the supercharger for the 4.0 engine... 400hp, 350 ftlbs torque!!

Could you provide a link to the 4.0 supercharger? X-Runner will be in th near future if the supercharger is available.

You are right... This is the Xrunner, but is this not the same engine??? They have been promoting the Xrunner for a while, but did not have the supercharger, back in November, TRD told me that they had a supercharger in design, but no idea when it would be available. This is the first I have seen that it is a real device...

Check out trdusa.com info on the the Xrunner:

http://trdusa.com/features.cfm?feature=xrunner

Including pics of the supercharger, and an interview with the engineers discussing that with some engine enhancements, they were able to get in excess of 440 hp and monster torque from a V6. Check out "Supercharger Specs"...
