very nice. I am still waiting to put mine on, weather ruined my plans this past weekend. going to try for round two this coming weekend.

Do yourself a favor and order a few dozen of these. I just installed, I think my 6th set in my coilovers today.

How often are you finding the uniballs need to be replaced? Is it due to moisture or simply wearing out?

They simply wear out. I'm sure salt/moisture will accelerate the process, fortunately I live in the desert. The lower shock bearings last me 12-15K miles, the uppers last longer, but not sure how much longer as I change both at the same time.

Ok. An every spring kind of thing. Are they a quick/simple swap or PIA?

Taking the coilovers out is a bit of a PITA, but once out, it only takes a few minutes to change the bearings. 2 spiral snap rings per bearing, then use a socket to knock the old bearing out, reinstall 1 snap ring, hammer in new bearing, install the other snap ring.

Congrats! Willing to lend a set of hands, but I'm not well versed on installation, so I won't be the voice of experience in providing guidance. Currently have a Stage 2 in my garage waiting to go on my rig.

it looks like we got the same setup. i don't know if you have to cut the long bolt holding the uca or bend the inner fender to get them out. i did a lift on my 2011 tacoma and it was a PITA to get that long bolt out. keep us posted on the install.

do you have a link to those bearings? i know those icon coil over have to be rebuilt every so many miles. how often do you rebuild yours? or do you replace those bearing at the time when you rebuild the coilovers

There are a couple of us in the Houston area that would be glad to help.

maybe we can find a time to have a wrench meet and get those bad boys in there.

Neither. You will have to remove the battery and disconnect a bracket holding some hoses on the passenger side. Be careful not to accidentally loosen the AC lines that are in the same area.

They are a standard COM10T bearing and there is a link in my post to Summit Racing, which is where I get mine for about $10 a piece. Most of those Icon arms also use one or more of the COM10T bearings.

I forget what the recommended rebuild interval is, maybe 20K with off road use, 40K without? I have slacked in that regard and only rebuilt mine once in front, thrice on the rear. You should buy generic shock boots for the rear shocks to protect the exposed shafts. They will become pitted by gravel and destroy the seals in short order, even with Icon's "shin guards."

The lower shock bearings, and I would bet the control arm mounted bearings need more frequent replacement, mine tend to make it 10-12k miles before getting noisy.

Your rig first! If you and the other Houston guys have the time at some point then maybe we can knock out mine too. Even just going to school on how you and the experienced crew get yours done would be great!

Tip: Make doubly sure to take great care around the ABS line (bolted into the UCA). When you unbolt the UCA it will flip up and if the line is either still attached or gets caught on the UCA, it will stretch. If you stretch it or break it, your dash will light up like Xmas. Ask me how I know. Replacement is fairly simple, but a diagnosis with Techstream is necessary at the dealer (or someone who has it) to identify which one is broken (or both).

Plan on a full day for install if this is your first time... use jackstands and be safe!
