Goodyear wrangler mtr's , are they good?

So I know someone that runs a racing shop and they're able to get me a pretty good deal (I think?) he said he can get me new grooved mtrs (no Kevlar) for 125 and then just brand new ungrooved mtrs for 175 a piece. Now can anyone give me info on these tires , can't really find much or I just might be looking in the wrong places, please give me your feedback aswell as pictures would be awesome!!!!!

If they arent Kevlar they are pretty old. The old style were a good tire , but i would wonder where they have been for the last 3+years since Goodyear made the first MTR.

Post up a picture of them, i bet they are some of the newer branded tires using the old MTR mold.

How are the mud hogs ? Because on one site they are having a sale until August 4th and it's $180 a tire !

thats like a hybrid of the nitto trail grappler tread and the MTR w/kevlar sidewall...

Only issue is, they need to air down A LOT before you see any sidewall bulge. Scary low PSI to run without bead-locks

Grooved offroad tires makes them non DOT compliant - they are a race application only. Google image "grooved offroad tires" to see what you'd be getting yourself into.

how low? i typically run my nitto terra grapplers in the 8-9psi range in the snow and have never had a bead pop, i run my procomps on my pickup down to about 4-6 in the snow and never lost a bead with them either... no bead locks either...

Similar PSI ranges...but it is a different style of off roading on the east coast.

Not much traction to be had, a lot of times what I see is someone loosing grip and sliding into a rock with the tire and rolling a bead that way.

ok, i try not to go that low unless im in the snow and need to float, when im in the rocks i like to stay around 10-12

I had a set on my old blazer.... I hated them, sucked in the snow, were loud, tracked all over the road....
but for context, i got them on the truck with about fifty percet left on them, I am sure that had some to do with it
but.... I will also be the first one to say that im picky as hell about tires... more like snobbish and a bit obessive, and.... they were great in the north idaho mud
