Got my new ride! (warning: lots of photos)

Finally I got my new ride! It has been a long time coming and a lot of waiting for the interest rate to go down. I got the 1.9% financing (Spring Sales Drive) which I was pretty stoked on. Sales tax sucked and was a total of $2,563.

I took some pics in case anyone wanted to compare an '08 with their model.

Great looking truck. What kind of dog is that in the first photo? It has the coloring of a weimeraner (I own 2) but the ears are not long enough and it seems to have a long tail.

I was working in this area installing air springs a couple of weeks ago. Didn't realize all that stuff was black! It's complete brown after two years of driving in the rain and snow.

I got the same specs as you, but a 2005 model. Love everyday I am in it whether it is to town for work or off roading on the weekends.

I was wondering what colors you had to choose from with the sport, v6, 4x4 package? Let me know.

Thanks everyone! It sure is friendly up in this forum and I love that. Plus, you guys all seem to smart about all this vehicle stuff.

I have to admit, I don't know much about engine or suspension stuff as I've just never learned but I am looking forward to changing my own oil and doing basic maintenance myself! So hopefully y'all can help me out with some questions from time to time.

First question, and probably a dumb one...why is there a cover on the engine? It seems that air coming through the non-functional hood might be more functional if that air could hit the engine directly to cool it off a little?

2. Anyway to make the hole in the hood functional?

3. When I drove it home, there was a burning smell that has since seemed to gone away? I suspect some temporary coating somewhere to residue from something?

4 What is the difference between 4H and 4L?

Still reading through the manual so maybe the answers are in there.

2005 Sport v6 4x4 Titanium

In the exact combo that I wanted which was V6 Sport Edition 4WD, the only thing on local lots was Titanium, Galactic Grey and a black one. I also saw 4x2 models in White and Titanium, and Limited in White and Galactic Grey. Saw one blue one as well. but not sure what model it was.

Only thing that bums me out is I didn't get the 115V option. Apparently, all the ones that ship to CA don't come with that for the Sport Edition. I couldn't find this anywhere. I would have custom ordered as JA shows how to do, but I couldn't wait that long as life goes, I needed a new vehicle sooner rather than later.

But JA showed me how to get that going on, so I'll be able to go aftermarket for much cheaper!

That's bizarre. All V8 Sport Editions in Oregon had the 115V option (at least in 2006 when I got mine). It's super handy.

I'll never understand how manufacturer's put together options packages...

Leave the scoop alone since it does nothing by opening it up unless you need a dirty engine bay all the time.

New trucks are soooo nice and do love the clean undercarriage.
