got questions

Hello all, Ive been driving my 87 around for about a month now with no problems what so ever; however there are some questions that I would love some answers to.

1. I am not completely trusting of the factory oil pressure gauge, and would like to know where on the engine i would hook up a sending unit for an after market gauge?

2. Will the clinomiter? from the newer FJ's fit the center dash of my 89 4r?

3. My friends and I would like to keep a stand-by engine on hand, as there are about ten of us running the 22re. The question is, will a 22r block work with a 22re head?

4. Does anyone have pics of a semi heavy duty front and rear bumper set up, possibly with a tire carrier?

5. Exhaust; headers, pipe size, muffler, the who to's and who not use list.

6. The air box delete kit, where do I get the M.A.F. sensor adapter plate. Or do I need to make one of my own?

Any opinions are welcome and really appreciate your help in the matters.:driving:

Your 87 looks just like my 87, nice.

1) I have a few ideas but have never done this, so I will leave this one for someone with that experience. I feel the factory gauge is adequate if you are used to watching it and know how it behaves.

2) I would take some measurements of the width, I haven't seen the FJ clinometers but the 1st gen 4runners are easy to install in a 1st gen, check Ebay.

3) You want to stick with the "Laser" blocks that were made in '85 and up. These are most identifiable by the the machined step on the drivers side under the motor mount location. They were put there for the turbo oil drain for the 22rte which shares the same block. The RE will just have a machined area, the RTE will have a hole and 2 studs drilled into it. The deck height is different pre 85, so the blocks and heads will not intermix. Just stay with heads and blocks from 85 and up. As for 22R and 22RE, the only difference is fuel delivery, heads and blocks are the same.

4) I don't.

5) Engnbldr reccomends that you stick with the stock manifold, 2" pipe from manifold to muffler, then 2 1/4 after the muffler. I just did this to my 87 and it seems as good as my NWOR header on my carbbed 22r pickup. LC and another company ( i forget who) both had a nice stainless kit for a decent price, all mandrel bent stainless. I know they have 2 1/4" dia. tubing not sure if they mix in any 2".

6) I know you can get these from LC Engineering as well, they aren't unreasonable on price, and I have never used one myself.

Good Luck!
