Gotta be the Hose.

Since day 1, this vehicle (06 T4R SE V6), has been making a strange rattle/pop sound inside the cabin towards the back (cargo bay). It seems to come from the Drivers' side. I checked the tonneau cover, seats, pillars, and seat belts.

The noise starts when the vehicle is being turned, stressed with some type of torsion or occasion bump. I went back and fiddled around with the side panel door to the jack and flat tire components because it seems like it is coming from behind the plastic interior molding (gray).

Anyway, I noticed a clear PVC hose with green lines on it situated behind the jack and encased in a black rubber shroud. I jiggled the hose and reproduced the sound (I think!). The hose had come loose from a black plastic half-moon hose clamp deep inside the housing, above the wheel well. I re-attached the hose but any slight vibration causes the noise again. I was thinking about using zip-ties so the hose doesn't move so much. Or, maybe stuffing some felt or insulation back there to deaden the noise and moving parts. What the heck is the hose for? It easily slides out of the black shroud connected at the bottom of the quarter panel behind the jack.

sounds like the hose is for the rear wiper washer

Hosing is like .75" dia,... too big. Also, the black tubing that the hose sits in is not sealed at all. It could be some sort of ventilation????

Try this.
The bottle jack (that came from the factory) sits on a metal stand. Turn it where it goes up (not too much, just where you can't move it around with your hands), and see of the noise is still there. The jack could be rattling on the housing, it's happened to be before.

Do this hose have a ring-like that used to be as a lock?

Could be the fuel overflow drain? I'll have to take a look at mine.

Moonroof drain hose? That's where mine is located, I had a similar noise and like the above poster said it was my bottle jack rattling.

Your moonroof drain is that far back? I don't have one, but I've had to blow them out on my Land Cruisers, usually pretty small hoses.

I've been tinkering with the following:

>jack slide out door....put felt on that.
>right side storage door
>second tier shelf and locking mechanisms
>zip tied the hose down and taped the hosing to the gas tank sensor
>made sure the seats were in locked position
>jack is tight
>jack lug bag and components are tight

Any other ideas? I thought it might be the plastic molding on the outside of the vehicle over the wheel wells, but that is secure. The sound is like a popping noise,... one or two pops when the terrain is uneven. Guess I'll have to turn the stereo up louder.:gun5:
