Grabber AT2's

Doesn't seem like too many people are running General Grabber AT2's on their 5th gen. Am I missing something or is their a particular reason.

Reviews seem pretty favorable for an all around AT tire in 265/70/17. I thought this would be a good option for people looking for a milder AT tire t hat gets good snow performance reviews.

I swear, my tire posts will stop soon - at least within the month...I hope!

I'm running general grabbers at2s and think they perform great
I got them instead of big o big foots this summer cause they were
sold out. they also have a excellent rain rating and here in Vancouver that's crucial. they look like bfgkos but we're cheaper .winter setting in here so will see how they perform. overall they have performed top notch.2010 tr4 trail edition shoreline blue
 
I'm at 40,000 miles on mine. They are showing some slight cupping and feathering from all the highway miles, and are getting a little highway whine on concrete surfaces. But they have been great on everything short of pure mud. Still have plenty of tread life also.

The Xpedition Overland crew used them in their 4runners for the Central america trip... they also used them on their Alaska/yukon trip and they seemed to hold up well.
 
I'm running them in 265s, 10-ply. I have around 35-40,000 miles on mine. They have done very well. Perform great in snow/ice and rain. That said, I am looking to move to the KO2s for next set. Just something different.
 
I was 100% going for this tire in a 265/70/17 and then realized only the 10-ply came with the snow rating. I actually think they look better than the chunky sidewall of the KO2.

Still might go with these given the price and favorable reviews for snow performance.

Had them on mine for about 20k miles and still measured with about 80% tread left. Great tire. I have three for sale actually
 
We just bought the Grabber AT2 in 285/70/17. Good reviews, great price, no road noise, and good looks. I also liked that these would look a little different than everyone with KO2's. We saw that the Expedition Overland team used them too. We figured that even though they are a sponsor, the team wouldn't be willing to use them if they sucked.
 
Thanks for info and shared experience. I'm tempted with 285's but just not necessary for me at this point.

Side note - by the looks of your signature, we need to see some shots of your rig!

I have them. Stock size has the snowflake. I put a set on my Xterra and liked them enough that I put them on my new 4runner.

They work great and I have no complaints.

Must be E rated. Website says stock size in a C rated is not snow rated. I would love to be wrong however.
 
Not LT tires. Regular, soft-riding 265 70 17 tires.

How the decision to qualify for the snowflake is made, I do not know. Some sizes get it, some don't.

I ran the General Grabber AT2's on my '97 Land Rover Discovery and I thought they were great. They handled well in the rain and snow, and the few dirt roads I ran down. They were pretty quiet on the highway, too.

The sidewall looked vulnerable, but I ran them at stock size. Maybe some oversized would have been fine too. I would consider them for my 4Runner if I ever decide to go from the 20"s to 17"s.
 
I had some AT2s as my last set of tires, running Grabber HTSs right now. I loved the AT2s for their traction and their looks not to mention the price. I had 55k mi then something took out the sidewall as I got off the freeway overall.

I'd buy again.
 
Love my AT2s. Performed great in the snow, wet, and dry.

We're headed to Tahoe again this weekend. Hard tire to beat for the money.
 
I think we can all agree the price point and rating of the tire compared to other AT tires is the reason we bought them.
