What is the best NLG1 #2 grease to get for lubing the driveshaft.

Also for Full time 4WD, if I just keep moving the truck back slowly until I see the zerk fittings, is that doable? as I do not want to lift the truck.

Drive shaft slip joints get grease with moly. Spider joints get grease without moly. Two grease guns.

I crawl under mine without lifting and can usually get to the zerks with a little work. Once or twice i had to move the truck a few inches.

Search on here for everybody's opinions on grease, there are a ton. IMO, as long as your greasing them every 5k or so with the appropriate grease, brand wont matter. Grease the spiders until all air is purged and new grease comes out. Slip yokes are a mystery, I just put in a few pumps every time. Not sure where it goes after that. Oh, and I am currently using amsoil, but probably will get something off the shelf when that runs out.
 
I use Green Grease on the shafts and whatever with moly I found at auto parts store on the ujoints. That reminds me that I gotta do my them again soon.

I dont think its "bad". Slip yokes move in a different way with different forces than the spiders hence the moly option. no bearings in slip yokes so grease needs to stick to surface and handle extreme force. So, lithium based nlgi2 with moly would be better for yokes than nlgi2 without, but nlgi2 would be fine, just not best. One thing I have read somewhere that its best not to mix different greases as they can interact and actually cause issues. So, just stick with whatever you pick. Does that make sense?

Not bad, it's better than nothing or never lubing those joints. If you don't want to keep 2 separate grease guns then I'd suggest have one with a grease that will cover all applications. My understanding is that molybdenum helps with sliding/friction which is why it is preferred for the slip joint but keeping it greased is the most important factor.
 
Mystic jt6 hi-temp #2 and Mystik jt6 hi-temp moly if so inclined on the slip joints. Napa usually has it. Get guns with a flexible hose.

I have did lots of research, and I think I will be going with the Mystik you suggested.

read lots about Mobile 1 leaking , etc...

I will buy two grease guns and do it right...

Yes I keep a mobil 1 gun in a plastic bag, in another plastic bag, in a catch pan and still have red juice all over the place. Plus the Mystik is the only proper moly grease I can find sold in stores around here, other than Valvoline Palladium sometimes.

Whoa that coupler is more expensive than the guns I have. Looks worth it though I'm going to pick one up. Should eventually pay for itself in shop towel and qtip savings ha.
 
I actually just got done washing my hands from lubing mine up.

The thing is, since I'm not lubing things full time, I can afford to buy the best (I was looking at Aeroshell at one point, which I do have tubes of for other stuff).

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter that much. I got mystik #6 and Shaeffers 221 moly in the lock n lube grease guns - they seem ok. Wasn't a big deal to tack on to an amazon order.

The reason for the 221 is that I saw Icon using it in their delta joints which I also have.

Just go to walmart and buy some lucas for $4 though
 
i use whatever toyota recommends, and the manual states that NLG1 #2 is fine for both shaft and spider joints..so thats what i use.

I bought a Rubbermaid cereal container to store my grease guns in. It keeps them upright so any leakage just drains down into the container. When I need to use them I just have to wipe off the bottom of the grease gun. Not perfect but it keeps the mess to a minimum.
 
I’ve been using M1 pink grease for both.
This is one of my least favorite jobs. I get nauseous working on my back so close to my face and I get freaking grease everywhere: truck, clothes, face...so at least it’s a fun color.

Same. I use the red Mobile 1 but it leaks like crazy when being stored.
