It was from reading posts on other sites by owners of other vehicles, like the off road guys LC/LX owners thinking they are "outlaws", the Z guys think they have race cars better that all other sports cars, plus they complain about everything after they take their Z to the track and trash it (why did my tires wearout? etc.). But most don't have much of a grasp on reality. It just seems like most of the members on this site look at their 4runners objectively and are "normal" and level headed in their approach to the subject and even the off topic subjects. I do think it is true that different "types/personalities" are attracted to different types of cars and websites.

This is a rare forum, most you see where people are in their own little click, and will not talk to any of your posts because you dont have 4 million replies. Some people work, and cant surf all day. This place is decent, good answers to good questions without any other drama.

from the collective group here, no one has pointed out this very obvious point: there is no snobbery here.
I've spent some time on other sites for my fishing hobby and you cannot belive the snobbery on some sites. If you don't have thousands of dollars tied up in custom wrapped, color coordinated, "designer name" rod or reel or rod maker, you ain't poop. If you ain't part of their "little clique", they won't give you the time of day or just flame you. If you have anything but the greatest compliement to say about a certain boat or boart crew, you get flamed. It's as if you have to be a shill so as not to "offend" the site's sponsors.
But I have yet to see that same type of clique mentality here--No one gets bent if yo udrive an SR5, SE or Limited. No one looks down on you if you drive 15 year old Runner or a fully pimped out ride. All here are open minded and very informative. If there is a gripe about a part or aspect of the 4Runner, it comes out and gets vetted in a reasonable discourse.
Good bunch of folks.

Definitely the best 4Runner Forum. I wont go mention any names. Ahem. Theres a ton of snobbery, and slaps in the face, especially if you dont own the dominant generation of trucks the members have.

Toyota will never build a new truck with solid locking axles front and rear and no ABS, VSC, or airbags. Get over it.

Agree with you Olliebear. So sick of going to a forum, and they are nothing more than some little click, aka high school. From sportbikes to whatever, I have seen it. One forum I was told I did not have enough posts to warrant a reply. How do you like that? It was easy to piss them off after I explained I worked for a living and could not sit my butt in front of a pc all day.

I think it is because we don't have many problems with the 4runners and most talk is about mod's or new VVti engine or something else new. I belong to the Turbo diesel reg. (dodge diesel trucks) They have a lot of problems to post about and owners need a lot of help working through these problems, same with GM and Ford. With the off road groups you get a lot of conversion talk and talk about the other brands that aren't as good. I've noticed that as a group we are tolerant of other brand owners.

I really enjoy this forum too! The people are amazing here and I enjoy learning new things everyday. I even got to meet a few members in person which was awsome. I think the main reason for having such great people on this forum is because we all decided to buy a GREAT truck! I think the best thing about this forum is that when you think you know everything about the 4Runner, something new just always pops up!
