i would be careful about building too much more strength into it... all you are gonna do is move the "weak point" somewhere else, like the frame or the bumper or the hinge ect. and those might be harder to fix that the tire mount... its nice to have a weak spot that simple to fix and will save other parts or systems that are harder to fix/repair or replace... just my $.02

I should rephrase that: gusset the hell outta the sides of the tire mount so that (knock on wood) if this ever happens again the tire mount will bend down instead of to the side and into the tailgate

Just take the corners at a steady pace. If you try and 'goose' it the locker will do it's thing and chirp the tires.

I do this once in a while when my wife's with me - just to aggravate her.

I would advise strongly to be careful in rain and snow for sudden lock-up which can cause the rear end to kick out. Don't ask me how I know this...LOL!

^^^ Yup. The Spartan seems to be more forgiving at light throttle than a Grizzly or Detroit, but it's still torque sensitive and it's not afraid to lock up when it thinks that's what you want.

• Don't punch the throttle on a tight corner, or when accelerating and turning from a stop.
• There's a little extra rotational slack with the locker in there instead of the spiders, so feather the clutch when you're idling through corners (like a parking garage) to absorb some of that and prevent the *bang* of the rear end unloading.
• Watch for the rear end to come around much easier on the slick stuff.
• And maintain a steady throttle on high speed sweeping turns - if you punch it or let off the throttle on a sweeping corner you can expect some torque steer. It'll put pinch marks in your seat the first time you do it on ice.

You must find a snowy or gravelly lot ASAP and spend about ten minutes doing donuts - drifting is much easier with the locker . And you can spot other wheelers in the mall parking lot now - watch for the guy whose head snaps around when he hears your locker ratcheting. Give him the up-nod or the one finger wave so that he knows that you know that he knows you're cool. :smokin:

Uh......NO. It shouldn't affect your turn radius at all.

I was able to make the turn but the suspension rode up so high on the drivers side that I could not reach it

Hmmm? Not something I have experienced with my Grizzly, so I'm not sure. Safe to assume you took the turn nice and easy? First thing I had to learn with my Grizzly was to slow down on any turns. It got funky.

You mean the truck physically twisted? Rolled to the inside and stayed there?

^ I agree here, Im not sure what you meant my "rode up".If the locker engages in the corner, then it will make your turning radius wider

I'm not gonna say that it was because I didn't remove the thrust washers, but when I took the 3rd member back out to do a once over some funny looking circle thingies fell out

In all seriousness I'm very lucky the diff didn't blow up because it wouldn't unlock hence the funky turns, DO IT RIGHT DO IT ONCE
